My Lacrosse 16" rubber snake boot lost its sole yesterday about 3/4 mile from the house. Ended up nearly falling while walking and getting hung up on some limbs. Planning to ShooGoo it but want to replace them after the season.
Suggestions?

I have some Rocky snake boots that are light and durable. Have had them for 3 turkey seasons now.

You may want to consider getting some snake chaps instead. Not nearly as bulky or expensive as snake boots.

Lacross tall grass square toe snake boots. They fit and wear like a regular pair of work boots and are comfortable enough that you won’t ever decide to not wear them because of them being a PiTA.

My Rocky’s are great and my wife loves hers. It’s hard to get a true waterproof lace up but they’re waterproof enough for most situations turkey hunting, especially if treated regularly.

All the danners I’ve owned have been great but the lace ups are high dollar.

If you need another rubber boot, go with lacrosse alpha agility. Also, if you complain to lacrosse about the quality and ask for some help they’ll give you 40% off.

I think a good pair of quality knee high rubber boots will stop a snake bite,,,,IMO. I wear BOGS and love them.

I’ll take tested snake boots or gaiters over your opinion, thank you.

Danner. Light, waterproof, expensive and worth it. Had mine for seven years.

No offense to Oldskule, but this cracked me up. Good prose DSJ.

I pictured some baw taking the word of another baw from a message board then having No Shoulders sink into his ankle a couple miles from the truck.

I crossed the creek twice yesterday! It was a little over 12” deep. I’ll keep the 16” snake boots.

I wasn’t knocking Oldskule too much and I wear Lacrosse boots a lot when hunting, but I know I’ve walked right up to the edge of cutovers sometimes and said “nope” when I didn’t have snake boots or gaiters on.

Man, I took my buddy up on an impromptu “hog hunt” one evening and I wound up wandering around a river bottom I wasn’t familiar with, and got separated from the other fellas. I swear at one point I looked up and I was on the wrong side of the creek I was walking, but had another creek in between and everywhere I turned and looked was a cottonmouth bedded up. It was surreal.

I started to panic, I’m not really sure how many snakes were around me, but I had been walking a while and that was the first time I stopped to take things in. My first instinct was to start trying to jump creeks, because I could make out the horizon on edge of the field I walked in from, but it seemed like everywhere I looked was a damn snake. I composed myself, took a couple breaths, and turned around to go back from where I had come from, and made my way out.

I would have loved some snake boots that day. I think I was wearing some old arse Itasca’s I pulled from my parents garage after ole boy pulled up and told me to get in the truck.

Lacrosse Grange with snake gaiters is all I wear...my "snake boots" I bought a couple of years ago are way too heavy and hot for summer.

My forester said that if a snake were able to bite through rubber boots, that snake would have earned it.

The real danger is when you SIT next to a tree without inspecting it......boots wont help you with an arm, hip or butt bite.
