Looking at moving away from strictly owning handguns to learning how to shoot ARs. I’ve read this is a very good introduction before moving up.

Anyone have this? Good? Bad?

I’m looking at it for mainly target shooting/becoming accustomed to shooting something different while staying in a budget. Plus, my wife could shoot it as well if needed while I’m out of town.
Thanks

Just buy a savage model 62 .22 and a real AR-15. It will save you some money. Or just buy an AR-15, it's the first rifle that lots of people ever shoot. It's not complicated.

An AR-15 in 5.56/.223 has almost no recoil, your wife can shoot it fine. My wife shoots mine, and she weighs about 100 lbs. It was the first firearm that she ever fired.

One of my favorite guns I own.

Put a kinetitech barrel shroud on the end for a little weight. Forward grip Shitty utg red dot. And keep it clean.

It is point and click with zero recoil.

As stated above, no need for an "introduction" to get into the AR15. Although somewhat loud, there's no recoil- which is what most novice shooters are reluctant about. Get one and have fun!

I own one. Great little plinker, pretty accurate too. More or less bought it for my sons (7&5 at the time).

Youngest one now 11 loves it and takes it after tree rats. No complaints here at all.

I got one a few years back and added a red dot to it. It got hung up a few times early on, but I switched to mini mag bullets and it's never hung up again. Fun little gun. Pretty accurate too

I think most everyone has one of these. They're great little guns. I gave mine to my 14 yr old son. I will have another hopefully soon.

But, I agree with what Auggie said. Just go buy an AR.

They are not the BIG, SCARY, BLACK GUN that the media wants you to believe.

Kind of in the same boat. I have handguns and shotguns, but looking to get into an AR setup. Been looking hard at the M&P 15-22 for target practice and .22 ammo is cheap. But the cheapest one I’ve found in stock is $400 and for a little more, I can just get a regular AR. So still not sure what I’m going to do.
