Sliding cork rigs, what say the OB?

Picked up two of these today, heading to Leeville tomorrow. One buddy swears by them, other buddy says double rig on a regular cork works better. We'll have live and plastics on the boat. Mostly trying to get specks in the boat but a red or two certainly won't piss me off. I'm more of a bass fisher, so what says the OB?

I think Wiki might have a thread on that.

Caught many specks and reds on them.

I like them. I use them for hybrids and blue cats in the spring also.

These are the only type of cork I fish with anymore. I wouldn't buy them pre-rigged, too easy to make on the fly but if that suits you then fine.
My favorite way to fish them is with a tandem shrimp imitation like a DOA. I put a weighted shrimp on the deep dropper and take the weight out of the shallow dropper so it kind of just floats which to me looks more like a swimming shrimp than the weighted variety...

sort of a drop shot rig but with shrimp ! I like it . What is the catch ratio for weighted vs unweighted?

I find that if you put a 1/4 oz splitshot about half way up, more fish will hit. I make my own. Use 20lb leader is the trick.

I prefer the ones that slide on Kevlar instead of metal wire. I find that the wire bends over time(especially if you catch a few big reds or have a rough ride in the boat).

Thanks fellers.
halfway up the leader, or shorten the space the cork has to slide?

I just use a rubber band above the sliding cork. Seems to work fine.

Guess it depends on how deep I'm fishing it. If the shallow hook is deeper than say a foot down, then probably 1.5:1 or so on the shallow. I find on a sluggish bite, the weighted one gets hit most. However, if they're eating up like trout often do, it's almost 100% two at a time...

Just a FYI.
That is a popping cork
This is a sliding cork setup.
I usually fish deep holes where fish are suspended with sliding corks set to like 12' deep.
Popping corks are used mainly in the marsh but I've given up on them and moved to regular ole clip on sacalait corks so I can remove it anytime I feel like tightlining.

No. leave the leader about 30". Even if you are fishing in water that is 12". Yes, for some reason it works.
