The Bodyguard sucks. I haven't ever seen one person shoot it well. Even people that practice with it don't shoot it well. Trigger pull is about 4ft long, and grainy. Reset is about 3ft long. The hammer is distracting. It shoots .380
This - and the trigger pull is +/- 12 pounds.

Btw, you've got your SA and DA safety thing mixed up. DA has a harder pull. I do not know any state troopers who carry a Bodyguard
Actually LSP bought Bodyguards a year (or so) ago, for "the brass." Word got out ('cause they had to qualify with them), so LSP "had" to buy them for "everyone." Troopers were told that they were for off-duty carry - assuming they could qualify with them. Troopers still carry their regular handgun (mostly Glocks) while on-duty.

Nobody at LSP likes the Bodyguards. The brass reportedly didn't consult with their FTU folks, and thus ended up with POS handguns.

On a related note: I have had any number of women come in for a private lesson with their Bodyguard .380 - purchased by their boy friend/husband. As always, I used a G19 in their lessons (along with a .22 LR AACK), and then had them load up their Bodyguards. Every single one of them stated that they planned to give them back to the husband/SO (one used a graphic phrase that involved insertion of the gun into her husband's anus) and buy a 9mm Glock.

I made a mistake in my initial post, which I have since corrected.

The last one was pretty critical (FTE). Happened a bunch of times on a P226. Not an easy thing to resolve, and basically shuts it down until I go through the whole process of holding the slide back, dropping the mag, and digging the spent casing out. Then, you have to tap and rack.

I'd rather just throw the damn thing at someone

Understood.

p.s. You'll notice how I refrained from saying "Shudda got a Glock."

Was it bad ammo (lodging in the chamber)?

There are dozens of better choices for concealed carry. Many dozens.

M1911A1 Standard, (Safety) Locked & Cocked & Ready to Rock.

Has Grip Safety, too, & very concealable.

This is correct, lsp now issues the body guard as an off duty carry weapon. Troopers hate it and most carry their glock 17/19 while off duty.

Also anoyher +1 for lsp is switching to 9s from 40s about 6 months ago. Those staties made out like bandits by buying their old 40s from lsp

Just to stay in the .380

I have a LCP Custom that has a much better trigger than the Bodyguard. Wife has a Sig P238 that I shoot almost as well as my Glock 23. Glock 42 would be a better choice. Keltec .380 better than Bodyguard. You see where I am going here.
Stay away from Bodyguard, original LCP and just about everything outside of a HiPoint is better. To get to dozens, leave those out add any other handgun and throw a dart.

It's my understanding that new troopers are given the option of carrying a G17 (9mm) or the G22 (.40).
