Just FYI, there is no such thing as a sand shark. Most of the time "sand" sharks are actually Atlantic sharpnose sharks and less frequently finetooth sharks. Small coastal sharks that have blacktips aren't always blacktip sharks either. Spinner sharks look almost identical to blacktips and small bull sharks, although they look completely different than blacktips and spinners, also have blacktips on the underside of their pectoral fins.

they had a guy catch a few bull sharks not too long ago in the Henderson Swamp. one was over 5foot long if I remember correctly.

a 55-pound Gulf shark was caught on a gar line just below Simmesport, while nine days later another shark, alleged to have weighed 255 pounds, was caught at the mouth of the Red River -- a distance of some 190 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.
quote:
"The thing weighed about 70 pounds," said Everett. "It caught them ... of us ... quite by surprise, but they brought it here to the market so people would believe them. We figured the thing had to swim some 160 miles from the Gulf to get here."

ragged tooth sharks

Well there are no sand tigers in coastal Gulf of Mexico waters so I seriously doubt thats what people are catching when they call them sand sharks...but nice try!

Well the fact that you felt the need to try and correct me with a statement that was just flat out wrong required me to respond. But good job naming a shark!

I believe a guy was attacked at the chandeleurs a few years ago. Not sure if it was a bull shark but I want to say they had been chased out of the water by some aggressive bull sharks prior to him being bitten on the foot. Also I believe it is the only attack in La waters.

I remember that one. A few years earlier someone caught one on a trot line there too.

flat out wrong
You really could have asked what I was referring to before making assumptions, and an arse of yourself. But by all means, please continue.

Ok this is stupid so I am not going any further with you, but just know that I know a lot more than most about sharks in the Gulf of Mexico. Again, you named a shark not found in the GOM, or at least not commonly. Have a nice day!

It was "Sand shark"
Oh, and you've used your daily limit of exclamation marks. You'll need to wait 24 hours to use another here.
