I suggest getting a manual for any kids first vehicle. Just so they will always have that skill.

Interesting you said this... and today her and I took a ride in my the truck that my dad (who recently passed away), so she could at least ride in a standard transmission vehicle.

After a few blocks of watching me, she wanted to drive. She did for about 15 mins, and did pretty well at it.

It's about 1992 Ford Ranger, and it's free for the taking if she wants it... we'll see. My dad would be proud of her driving it!

tacomas are great trucks and they last you trouble free for 400-500k miles on average if you change the oil in them regularly.

take a look at this one, it looks like a great deal and exactly what you said you were looking for LINK

I've been trying to get a 2017 Tacoma. I can't believe how much the price on them has gone up over the last few years. I've been trying to get the dealership to come down a little more on the price but they won't do it (which they already came down about 1,500 on it). One thing is certain is that they are made to last if you take care of them and there is not much out there to match the value in them.

Bump to question other Tacoma owners.

I'm looking at a 15 crew cab trd off-road. I currently have a f250 but I mostly drive in the city, and the only thing I tow anymore is a 1652 duck boat.

I've got two cars eats, and I'm 6'4" about 200lbs. Is the Tacoma gonna be too small for me? Should I just be looking at full size trucks?

Alright Karl, I think you priced your truck a bit high.

Your head may rub the roof. Lol

I would go sit in one just to see how it feels.

Sometimes I feel like the cab should be higher on my 2015 and I'm like 5'11. Still love my truck.

I test drove one and had headroom. Couldn't get one with a sunroof though. I'm mostly concerned with long term comfort, I can't really go on a 6 hour road trip to test drive it, haha

Grassy, I hope she decides to drive that Ranger.
You could save a lot of coin AND she'd be driving Paw Paw's truck. Those Rangers are easy to maintain and that would be a great first vehicle. Good luck either way.

I just bought a '17 Tacoma SR5 on Monday. I was looking at used trucks, but DAMN, they hold their value so well it makes no sense to buy used.

I'm good for the next 15-20 years.... LOL

Don't get a '16. I've already had to bring mine in for a rear differential leak recall.
