I know I saw a thread a while back, and I have been unsuccessful trying to search and find it. Can someone please help with the info on putting epoxy or whatever the material was in the button of a Ruger American? Thanks!

I don't know why but I want the MDT LSS stock for my RAR. Not sure dropping double the money of the rifle on a tacticool aluminum stock is a sound investment though.

May want to include "Paging Clames" in the title of your post. He can point you in the right direction.

Just looking for fill the butt? Just take the butt pad off and you have full access to the butt of the rifle. Fill with whatever you want. Most people use RTV Silicon.

Y'all rang?
It's easy to do OP, I used a modeling silicone kit though (Smooth-On Dragon Skin Shore 10A Medium Set trial size kit, $30 on Amazon), not RTV. Just remove the stock and clamp it to a vertical surface like a table or bench leg and remove the buttpad. There will be some Styrofoam inside to remove and discard. With the kit I used it took exactly 1/2 of each bottle to make enough silicone to fill the stock to just under where the screw holes are for the pad.

Gives heft to an otherwise very light and cheap feeling stock.

Just did some googling...seems some do it to reduce recoil by about 12% and add more balance as some say the gun is barrel heavy by adding almost 1 pound to the butt..

Certainly helps with the feel of the gun. I then went ahead and mounted a Boyd laminate stock which is another good option and cheaper than a chassis system.

Just to be scientifically correct the Dragon Skin is RTV silicone rubber. RTV = room temperature vulcanizing.
RTV comes in two flavors, one part (out of a tube like you see at Home Depot) and two part (like the Dragon Skin). You want the two part. The one part sometimes requires moisture in the air or UV to cure, neither of which might reach the inside of the butt stock. You want a two part cure RTV silicone rubber.

I am interested in doing this also.
Do you have any photos of the Process? Seems easy enough though

I have some but not readily available to post. I still have the stock I filled too which, if I'm honest with myself, I should just sell since it will only collect dust now.
