Does anyone have any experience with them? I am looking at purchasing one but would like to hear some opinions

Good gun for the money. If avoid the commander model though.

I bought one a couple months ago and love it as a "fun gun". I thought I'd be comfortable carrying it but I have learned differently. I haven't had the first problem with mine. In my opinion as far as 1911's go for the money, you can't beat it.
ETA: you might want to edit the title to something a little more descriptive, and hope it gets unanchored

Chesty,
I don't have an RIA, but I do have a Citadel. Citadel and RIA are both made by the same gun manufacturer in The Philippines, Armscor. I got the Citadel instead of the RIA because it had a few features that was not available on a comparable RIA at the time. My Citadel is an Officer's model w/ a 3 1/2" barrel. I've been very pleased w/ it. It's a part of my concealed carry rotation. RIA's are usually solid, although not fancy. I don't really like their Parkerized finish, but it's functional.
