well, i only used one for 20 years,,, so my numbers may be off,, but, i can assure you 20 years times 10 deer is 200 and a few pay hunts, so maybe 210 deer were killed with mine and in the last 2 years, you couldnt count on it for being more than a single shot,,, with a slow reload using a pocket knife... Have may friends that had the same problem... They just wore out.

All this shite about groups and 4th shot and crap.
Don't know about you hardlegs but I usually only need 1.

I am setup to reload .30-06 for my Garand. I'll have to see if I can handload some rounds for my sister. That may help if she experiences some of the problems some of you have encountered.

She got a good deal. I'd buy that gun for that price any day of the week

I have 3 of them and contrary to some I'm accurate with mine and it hasn't jammed since I inheriteded it in 1997.
It is my primary deer hunting rifle I use out to 300 yards.
My uncle used it until he passed and then my cousin used it until he passed both were very accurate with it when they hunted.

I have the old 760 Gamemaster pumpin 30-06 with a Weaver K4-F and it has held up nicely. I is very accurate thru 200 yards.

Between me and my dad we've PROB killed 50 deer with two 760's he bought used 20 years ago.

They work much better if you have see through mounts on them
I knew a fella that had just this setup.
The 742 may not be the best rifle out there but I've never had any problems with mine jamming or not grouping.
