Does the pressure naturally equalize itself with this contraption?

yes its worth the hassle. and easy to do. takes a few times of filling to get it full. get a smale scale to check them. pull up a youtube video for easy DIY, flip the propane tank upside down

this is what i have

the price of the 1lb tanks now are insane

OB procedure is just to throw them out of the window of your box stand so you can hit them with the bush hog next summer.

Depending on the application a lot of people buy the fittings and hose to run off a 5gal tank.

Or just buy a hose and hook it up to your big tank and never use these again.

Why are you bothering with 1lb?

Pull the pop off valve with a pair of needle nose pliers and it will fill to the top, they also sell them made to refill and the valve is easier to get to

Check out this 5lb tank and adapter kit on Amazon. I use it on a Jetboil camp stove and small Blackstone instead of the 1lb. It costs me about $5 to refill it and lasts me for months and multiple trips.

But why?

I use a hose on my Blackstone. Have a quick connect hose for my Truck Campers lp connection too when I take it.

I carry a 2 gallon tank and hose when I go fishing for the bbq.

I carry a 5 gallon tank in my drift boat because when I use it it gets used a lot and I don't want to fill it on a daily basis.

Luckily I don't need a bug fogger.

A friend of mine used to fill them up but finally saw the light.

For me and a lot of people there's not much point to using these imo.

5lb with adapter is the sweet spot, imo. More than enough to last most people months of many uses. Although that Jetboil camp stove I bought is less efficient than my old Coleman two burner I used for years.

This and my other backpacking stove is the only reason I buy small cans of fuel.

French press coffee on the boat is just divine.

Yeah, it’s incredible what you can have in the woods these days with minimal effort/weight.

That’s fine, but the vast majority here are carrying these into deer stands and a hose isn’t an option. It’s very convenient to be able to fill them from a larger tank at the camp.
