The part about the Catholic Church bringing in the Vietnamese and buying them fishing boats I found really interesting. I wonder if there’s any truth to it

Alamo Bay was real. I lived in Rockport when that was going down.

100% Truth
Catholic Charities (NGO$) has been importing parishioners for decades with our tax $$$.
Grand Isle & Intercoastal City had a large Charlie Company in the early 90’s. SBA loans for shrimp boats were easy for them to get and had easy forgiveness upon default.
In G.I. They had running gun battles between the natives and Charlie Company shrimp boats daily. Many wheelhouse windows died but to my knowledge zero deaths occurred. Eventually Charlie Company left GI, not sure if they are still shrimping out of IC.
Majority of the crabbers in Bridge City Tx are Charlie.

Why do low info people always make everything the Catholic Churches fault.

The fricking US government did all of that. Swamp rats have hated the Vietnamese since they got here. It goes back to the mentality that is still very much alive today. People in South Louisiana coast lines thing everything that walks, crawls or swims is there's, and they will try to kill you if you try to enjoy the bounty God has given to this great area.
