No offense, but please watch a modern ecollar training video. It's not your old school compulsion training.

I have a mint condition Dogtra vibration / electric stimulation that I am parting with that is less than six months old. Receipt included. Letting it go for pennies on the dollar. So holler. :-)

The one in the pic works great for my golden. I have never used the “shock” button on her. She is 7 months and I have only used the alarm and the vibrate. These seem to do the trick. I have a camp that is about 200 yards away from a road so unwanted something to let her know I can reach her if needed. For the money I am satisfied!

What I learned from my lab and Tri-tronics book long ago is to use low stimulation and hold it down until they obey the command, that way they don’t get “shocked” and forget to listen because all they can think of is pain and unexpected shock. Eventually they will obey the command to avoid the low stim shock or even putting the collar on will do the trick without even holding the remote

Are you really going to wear one? Is the Missus going to hold the control?

Got my Beagle a SportDog bark collar from PetCo, absolutely no regrets. Charge it one night every week, the battery supposedly holds a charge for 200 hours

This is unfortunately true, because the flip side is they know when they’re not wearing the collar.

I had a couple of different books on dog training that said the same bs: your dog always wants to please you, and if they’re ignoring a command it’s because you haven’t trained them and they don’t understand it. 5 minutes with my first collar and those books went in the trash.

Tri-tronics !!!

Far more important is knowing how and when to use it.
You can NOT teach a dog anything with an e-collar, only reinforce what they have already learned.
Used properly, it’s a great tool. However, it’s only one of many tools needed.
Good luck.
