Looking for something that you would recommend for duck, dive, and quail at a decent price. Just starting out and want to find something fairly cheap.

We need a budget. Shotguns range from $250 used to $2,000 for hunters. They get crazy expensive from there. You can build a really nice custom rifle from 4k to 6k but you are just scratching the surface at 6k for some of the custom shotguns out there. Shotguns are like watches you can get a $30 timex or you can have a $30k Rolex. At the end of the day they both will shoot 6 teal or tell you it’s 6 o’clock it just depends on how much money you have to spend.

One of my favorite shotguns is the Beretta 390 and if you can find one for $500 I say buy it.

Get an affordable 12 gauge stoeger.

Stoeger is a subsidiary of binelli. Not to say it’s as good as binelli but they know how to make a gun.

You can shoot all birds listed with said gun and get a feel for what you want and need.

Technically, Beretta Holding Co., the Beretta family, own Beretta, Benelli, Franchi, Uberti, Stoeger, Sako, Tikka, Victrix, Steiner & Burris. They're made in different factories around the world with various price points and quality.

Under $500. Want to make sure we use it enough to justify any other purchase or a higher purchase in the future.

Agreed with others on the Stoeger. I bought a 3000 in 2012, and it is a great gun. Never any issues with it, and if I had to would def buy another. It shoulders very well, easy on the recoil, and can knock birds down for sure.

You can use the same shotgun for both, but you really are talking about two different shotguns.
Decide what you are going to do most and go from there.

I have a Mossberg 835 ulti-mag that is indestructible. Great utility gun. It aint as pretty as my SBE 11 but kills things just as well.

if you watch black Friday sales, you may be able to find a Mossberg pump on sale and with a rebate. They're the Timex of shotguns.
Other stores may have better guns on sale too.

Under $500 I would consider a used older 870.
