I'd go with a cheap revolver. You have to have the understanding that it will get stolen eventually

But how much is your life worth??????????

I kid I kid. No way I'd leave an expensive gun in my truck. Uberti Cattleman in 357 is a good cheapo depot gun if you're SA savy.

There is always a balance. To be honest, I haven't ever know someone who didn't get a gun stolen out of their car.

It happens more than people realize.

Can I this thread please?

I'm looking for a new concealed carry, but I don't want to spend more than $600. The reason why is because I go to courthouses a lot, where you cannot carry, so I have to leave it in the truck. Thus, I don't want some really expensive gun that could possibly get stolen. Any recommendations on a good one? Preferably with a lifetime warranty. Thanks!

I've been looking at the Shield, the Nano, the XDS, and some Glocks. Any input is appreciated!

If you want a comfortable single stack, the Shield is the best out of those choices, and the XDs is a close second.

Watch my video on my YouTube channel called "Concealed Carry Methods" to figure out the different between carrying a double and single stack. Your mileage may vary, but I find the things I talk about are pretty universal.

Great video. Thanks. I wear a suit or a sports coat every single day, so I guess I can use a paddle holster, but I worry about the gun "printing" onto the jacket.

Perhaps an LC9. I would upgrade the trigger and guide rod with stuff from Galloway precision. Just a thought

I've been looking at that too. I have a Ruger already, and I kinda want something different. However, if the LC9 is the best fit, I will get it.

I like the lc9 with the thumb safety. Similar mechanics as a 1911 as in unholstering, thumbing off the safety, then firing. 90% of the time I shoot a 1911 so I liked that about the lc9. I used to carry a colt new agent but it's too heavy and uncomfortable for the situations I used it for, hence lc9.

If you get a single stack pistol you will not have to worry about printing and it will be really comfortable. The thin profile makes single stack guns very comfortable for carry and you will eventually forget you have it on you.

The main beef I have with the LC9 from the factory is the magazine disconnect safety, which has zero practical purpose on a carry pistol. I know they did this to make the pistol CA and NY compliant but it's just not for me.

I know, the SR9/40/45 etc. have them too. The difference is it is easily removable. I took the mag disconnect out the day I bought it.

I also heard the trigger is horrible from the factory. The M&P Shield and XDs have a better factory trigger. I also love the trigger on my Kahr CM9. It is long but buttery smooth and crisp.

Then comes the price. The LC9 is over $400 from the factory. So take that into account with the money you'll spend on a trigger kit and it starts to become impractical.

Then again, if you get an LC9 and it works for you, I hear they are reliable pistols. It all comes down to personal preference. As you can tell from my reasoning, I probably won't ever own an LC9.

I removed the magazine safety as well as the loaded chamber indicator. Spent about $150 more on the lc9 and it's great. This was before the xds's and such were available.

Eta: bought the lc9 when the first came out and go it for about $340. Don't know current pricing though. I've got $500 (including gun) in it...trigger work, guide rod, spring, magazine safety removed, loaded chamber indicated removed....carries well but you need to work it first.

Had other choices been available at the time I purchased I would have considered other options as ruger is not my favorite manufacturer. But I can say the lc9 has been beat to hell, filled with dirt and pocket lint, almost never oiled, and has managed to fire every time with about 400rds through it.

I dislike the disassembly method of the lc9 very much, hence it lives filthy.

This seems to be what I hear from every LC9 owner. They seem to be reliable and dependable carry options.

If you leave your shirt untucked, every oblivious face around you will have no idea. And if you like to tuck your shirt in, just get a tuckable holster. They still conceal very well, especially with a single stack.

Honestly, I'm trying to avoid this, but it looks like I can't. I don't want to have to start getting my pants larger in the waist.

Unless you'd be able to carry OWB with a cover garment, that's probably an unfortunate result.

But if you want something you will have with you no matter what, if you don't mind going small, you could snag a Kahr CW/P380. My dad carries his with him everywhere. It will fit in any pocket of any pants he owns.

Yea, it may only be a 380 but he never leaves home without it. And when you're armed you have options. When you're not armed, you have zero.

First firearm a recommend CZ sp01 9mm. Easy to shoot, high capacity and the heft really minimizes recoil. I have glocks, HK, FN, and it's still my favorite handgun to shoot.

Try to find one... CZ75B is a nice choice.

I have been in the same debate with myself what guns to pick for my first.

It was 9 vs 40
- Sig Sauer Sp2022 ~459 (expensive mags) DA/SA
- S&W M&P ~519 (I hate the trigger) Striker
- Glock 17/19 ~519(Cheap aftermarket/easy to use) Striker
- Springfield XD ~450(similar to glock with added grip safety/higher bore axis though) Striker
- Walther PPQ ~575 (Supposedly best striker out right now with best trigger/mags are high) striker
- FN FNX ~575 (very light and ergonomic and comes with 3 mags) DA/SA
- FN FNS ~575 (Very light and ergonomic and comes with 3 mags) Striker
- Beretta PX4 ~550 (good ergos/terrible location of safety/decocker) DA/SA
- CZ75B ~450 (Best ergos in handgun/all metal/very accurate/not picatinny rail) DA/SA
- Ruger SR9/40 ~459 (good ergos/great trigger since redo/has a safety) Striker
- Beretta 92/96 ~550 (good ergos/all steel/accurate/some have rails) DA/SA
- Sig Sauer P226 ~800 (great ergos/all metal/very accurate) DA/SA (My favorite but too expensive right now)

What I learned in all my research is that there is only a preference to what feels best to YOU! They are all reliable enough and they are all more accurate than you are. If this is for self defense, use it as a backup. Shotguns are way better suited for HD.

Watch this video and you will learn that caliber doesn't matter either. 9mm is cheaper and a softer shooter with more rounds. 40 S&W has a larger diameter(not by much) with more energy but if you watch that video you will know that none of them are going to produce what you want to happen(one shot kill). Accuracy and placement are the key. This should only be used to get to your shotgun.

IMO and everyone has their own... The Ruger LC9 is terrible design with too many safety features. I've had keltecs I've like better than the Ruger. I prefer the $200 P11 over the LC9. Much rather carry the PF9 over the LC9.
