Because the engine itself is a premium option so it's going to be packaged with other premium options at first.

Smaller displacements are needed because the ridiculous power numbers are not needed. A 2.something liter diesel with a VGT can easily make 300+ ft-lbs and get great fuel mileage in a regular half ton truck. There should be an option for something smaller than the big stump yankers. Shame to say that dodge probably has the best offering with the Italian motor.

Same price and same MPG as the 3.0 but less towing capacity. Why?

You'd get better fuel mileage out of something like a 2.0. Not everybody wants to pay both in fuel and premium for 9200lbs of towing capacity.

It's a sawed off midget truck with a 2.4 or something in that ballpark.

Make a damn full sized truck with a 2.0.

fwiw, VaGump

I've only driven mopara my whole life, now I just don't know what to do since the Dakota is gone.. I really don't want a full size pick up because I already have one for towing and just want a mid size for my daily driver

So, my choices basically come down to Ram 2500 or Colorado..

Right now it is Ram by a nose..

Why not the 1500 ram?

I'm not familiar with the engine, but it's built by a reputable company.

A ram 2500 is definitely not a mid size daily driver. That's a fuel guzzling tow rig.

That doesn't make sense.

I've heard nothing but good reviews on the Ecodiesel. If the Toyota/Cummins speculations are true, I'll be camping out in the All Star Toyota parking waiting mine!!! Lol

The ecoboost is getting a size upgrade in 2017, but I don't see the mpg going too far up. Just the HP and tq.

I test drove one when I bought my 1500 same thoughts as member, but it was a $4500 add that I didn't want to pay for.

So people are buying it just to say they have a diesel. It will take 15 years of whatever fuel savings to pay for that.

I did a breakout in another thread, it is actually cheaper to run vs. a hemi and wouldn't take that long to make up the premium...that's assuming diesel prices hold and also assuming the cost of certain maintenance items.

Or how many miles would it take with today's gas/diesel prices.
