Raccoon under my house

I have a large animal under my house. I think it is between the floor insulation and the floor.
I makes alot of noise sometimes.
I have found out how he gets in but not sure when to plug the hole once he's out.
What time of year do they have babies.?
Don't what to trap them in.
any suggestions?

Coons are night time hunters so during the night might be the best time to close off the opening.

One night, put a plate full of peanut butter several feet fom the opening and wait with your weapon of choice.

Get a metal 55 gal drum. Lean 2x4 against the drum. Put left over fried chicken bones on the 2x4 and in the bottom off the drum. Coon goes in drum can't get out. Shoot the coon. Problem solved.

coon trap with fruit like watermelons or grape drank
FWIW, cat traps work the best

Does it growl when you flip a light switch in your kitchen?

Took care of one with a cat trap and leftover chicken wings. You don't have to kill it if you don't want to. Just drive a ways and let it go.

I now dump them all in my buddy's back yard on Seigen/Perkins and haven't seen them since

I've hauled off probably 30-40 cats. From my experience, you need to drop them off with at least 3 waterbodies and 4 major highways between the dropoff and your house. I once dropped a cat off caught at my house in Denham Springs about 3 miles across the river on Florida blvd in Baton Rouge. Caught the same damn cat in the same trap on my back porch about 3 days later. Now I usually keep them in the trap til I'm going on a jobsite far away now. Dropped one in Cameron Parish yesterday. Pretty sure he won't make it back to LP.

Uncle did the same thing. Brought a cat a town over and it made it back in a few days. He was so spooked by it that he started feeding it to avoid a pet semetary like scenario.
