Instead of posting here just take the dog to the vet, hell bring the snake too, and have them check. Better to be safe than sorry.

Looks like a water snake. My catahoula gets bit all the time. Swells up for a few days then back to normal.

Looks like cottonmouth. My yellow lab got bit by a CM on the lip, when he chased one on Castor Creek. Face and head swole up like a cantalope, but went down after a day or so. He was just fine, though I put him on some anti-biotics. Did not need the anti-venom.

I'm thinking watersnake, but he's chopped up pretty good so it's hard to say. In that 3rd pic it looks like the white cheek bar of a cottonmouth, but I think it's actually the underside that I'm looking at. Next time use the flat part of the shovel and give it one good whack instead of that chop technique you used here.
