I'm thinking about getting off the wmas and into a deer lease. What are some questions to ask when comparing leases? Thanks ahead of time for the input.

1.) If you have kids be sure to ask if they can hunt during the special youth deer season.

2.) Do they run dogs...do any of the leases around them run dogs?

3.) Guests - how many and when can you bring them?

4.) bow and primative weapons - do they allow that at the lease?

5.) can you hunt small game, ducks, etc. when deer season is closed?

6.) If there is camp make sure you have access to sleeping accomidations

7.) Do you have access to all acerage or are you limited, as the new guy, to less desirable areas?

8.) what self imposed limits have they placed on kills? spread, point, does??

That would be my first question, and if the answer was no it would be my last one as well

I was looking for a place over here in Bama...so many camps said this is a family environment no drinking. Not like I was gonna get fricked up and grab a gun, but having a beer or a whiskey drink and enjoying life isnt a problem.

The guys at our place would rather have a no hunting rule than a no drinking rule.

Ours in MS had something like that in the rules, but it just goes ignored. Especially since those that originally wrote the rules are gone now.
