How old was your retriever before you trusted leaving him/her in the house without destroying the place?

I have a 9 month old female that I just got back from the trainer. I don't quite trust her to not destroy my house without me home.
Thanks in advance.

ETA: I keep her kenneled when I'm not home.

We have an 8 week old lab pup.

We are worried to death about the swimming pool at this point. She loves to go look in. Worried she's going to fall in. No chewing "yet".

One of my labs wouldn't get in the pool & one we couldn't keep out. We just taught her how to get out on the ladder

I have an 8 1/2 month old Aussie Shepherd/Retriever that loves to tear up his "indestructible" toys. He has calmed down a lot, so hopefully around 9-10 months I can let him back in the house without worrying.

a couple years old. he's never chewed anything up, but he's an exceptionally calm lab.

this is what he does all day:

3, but I would have to make sure she got plenty of work in that day so she'd be calm while I was gone.

Leave her in a room with minimal shite for a test run. Continue until proven worthy. I was fine with my lab at 1 year but she is freakishly smart and obedient.

Problem with this is i'm more worried about losing part of the door frame or the sheetrock than anything

My chessie is 2 1/2 and I trust him with all my stuff but he gets into the trash a lot and it pisses me off. He was probably 12-15 months before I started leaving him out and another 3 months before I actually trusted him

I've owned several Chessie's and they seem to know to protect the Home front . Mine never chewed things .

Never. I have always kept all my dogs in crates when I'm not home.

For me it was around 2 for my male lab. He is good and doesn't chew up much anymore. The times he did do it I got on him bad and he hasn't done it much since then.

No worries then.

BUT, if not. It all depends on the level of exercise she is getting. A bored lab can be hell on a house. Trust me, I know.

It also depends on her unique personality.

Generally a Lab will grow out of being a puppy at 1.5 - 2 years old. I have two so I left mine when the were younger since they could entertain each other.

Still though, if one of the kids leaves the door to the pantry open they will get into the trash every now and again.

From 3 months to 18 months our master bathroom bound lab ate the bay windows and edges of the cabinets. If I did not care about my wife and had her convince me it is only $ to fix all of the, I'd have given him to someone with a farm or huuuuge yard. Pic of window eater below:

I can barely trust my 7 month old in the back yard . The only thing she's chewed up are scraps of wood from behind my shed and extension cords, so it's not so bad. And even though she won't pee in the house while we are there, she would if we didn't pay attention to her when she needed to go. It would probably be 2 years before we feel comfortable with it.
