Man I came down there about 8 friday night ready to fish after recovering from back surgery for the last month. Phone rang at midnight and I had to haul arse back to town. I hope this weather didn't screw em up too bad because the only thing that can stop me this weekend will be the world ending.

Great video! I just got a GoPro for Christmas and am still learning it. I have to figure out how to splice video.

I did get a good one of me dragging one out of the bushes on Toledo, though!

Glad you are feeling better. The water had them screwed up for me and was finally starting to look better last weekend. About time to jump the levee and start locating them again!

Awesome video.

However, would have been way better if you had beat that mud fish to death with a boat paddle....

What kind of rod are you (or anyone else) using to punch? I've been looking for a new one.

I'm using a 7-10 XH Duckett Micro Magic. Has a very fast tip, and that's why I like it. I need a little give cause the braid has zero.

Just bought a 7'6" Kistler KLX punch rod, but haven't used it yet. I hope I like it. It seems like every punch rod I handle either has to much tip or not enough. 8 foot rods have always felt a little cumbersome to me too, but I may just need to get past that.

That fish was really deep in the weeds, how did you get your lure in there?

Pitching and using a 1/2 oz weight so it'll go down.

Me too.

I still haven't found a scenario where I believe an 8' rod would be that much more of an advantage than my 7' 8' whomping stick. And I punch a lot.

I was using a 7' 6" Vendetta X heavy but it was too heavy. Hands would be hurting at the end of the day. I just got a Powell 8' heavy action punch rod that is much lighter and seems to be a better fit for me. I find that balance has a lot to do with it as well. They do make some counter balance rods but I haven't tried one yet.

I almost got the Duckett because I like how light mine are but I got a good deal on the Powell. Carbonlite rods are pretty light as well.
