Protocol for dry ice in yeti chest

So will everything be good as long as I leave the drain open? Also dry ice is a no go in the soft chest correct?

That will allow it to vent, so yea everything will be fine. You obviously don’t want that venting into an enclosed space though.

You should also consider if you really need dry ice. Regular ice covered in salt will often keep your stuff colder. Dry ice is also fine in a foam cooler. That how omaha steaks/honeybaked ham/ etc ship meat.

I brought elk and antelope from Wyoming in a couple of colorless coolers. Always kept the valves shut and sealed well, never open them.

The key old-school OB question is whether your pre-chill you Yeti in a large freezer before you use it.

I did this several years ago. Had a couple of blocks of dry ice in it.
Did not have it vented though.

Everything in was frozen. SOLID. Even some cheese we have in it was frozen.
