$20 an acre . They added a $4 per acre surcharge for La residents beginning in 2019.

$25/acre and up. I know of some that are $50 which is stupid high, but corporate money. 10 years ago we were at $12/acre. The sad thing is that the hunting isn’t half as good as it was 10-15 years ago.

I wonder why the hunting isn’t as good as it was 10-15 years ago?

Really depends on how close to the river you are. The further away, the cheaper, but generally better hunting near river. I'm paying $20/acre, have neighbors paying less, but theirs is all pine plantations. Know some people closer to river paying north of $30/acre

Jack is right. Plantation pines were thick 15 years ago. Now they are mature with less cover and food. Many hardwood stands have been cleared. Habitat change for sure.
Also, many many more hunters in the area. We (7 guys) use lease 2500 acres from mid 80’s until early 2000’s. Now we just lease 1000 acres and the 1500 we let go is split between 4 different clubs now where there are close to 15 additional hunters who believe they need to kill their 3 bucks.
As the lease price goes up it continues to be split so that it can be afforded.
