Both are good I'm a Talon guy after having owned both. Talon reaches down much deeper.

I've owned both too and both have their pros.

PP are quieter and get out of the way when they're lowered but have more moving parts and an oil reservoir. They also cost less than Talons.

Talons go straight up and down so you don't have to look to see what's behind you before lowering but the tubes are always there. Less parts, less shite to break. No hydraulics.

I have PP now but if/when they shite the bed, I'm going to Talons.

Might consider talon if only fishing fresh but have seen too many crap out used in salt. There is a reason Talon includes a tool to raise the unit. Talon should include a rinse port on top of them.
PP has the best customer service in the marine industry. Going on three years with my blade with zero issues. Easy rebuild when the time comes also for $58.

I have owned both.. Talon is much easier install, but in my case, a lot of the mud ends up in the talon and it eventually starts to grind/slow. I do think they may hold a little better than the poles though.

I will always own poles now though. Customer service is top notch. And no matter how muddy it is, I can just hose them off when I get home, or leave them slightly down while idling to get excess mud off. (Another thing you can't do with Talon's, I believe.)

How much mud you getting on them? You can always lower them when you get home and hose them off and inside the tubes.

Granted PP are easier to hose off tho.

Well, that's kind of what I was saying... Once the talon's are fully retracted, the mud is in the talon now. That's all.

In the spillway, mud will be on the stick each time it goes down.

i have poles but i think id try the newer 3 stage talons that are no taller than the motor. But I have no experience with them.

Power pole hands down has the best customer service on the planet, but those pumps seem to have issues. I have replace them several times. The hydraulic oil is messy no matter how clean you try to be.

They both have their own pros/cons. I like both products just fine but give a slight overall advantage to Talons, especially the new gen 15 footers. They added a soft bottom setting which is nice for the marsh.
Why do people shite on Talons but clearly don't know a damn thing about them or never read the manual? Talons do have a rinse port on top to flush the whole unit. Saltwater is not an issue. Raise/lower the spike a couple times while running fresh water and your done. The manual also states that you can idle with the spike partially lowered if that's your thing. The deployment notification alarm will go off while you do if you connected that wire.
