Remove grass and top soil or you will see differential settlement. May crack the slab. Compact with jumping jack. Run field proctor via DOTD 15-B. Shoot density test with nuclear gauge. Passing is 95 % compaction at 13% moisture. Proof roll with pneumatic double axle truck with 15 tons. Insure proper subgrade modulus.

You mean a footing for a deck or a slab patio? If slab, won't the moisture bleed through? I've walked on slabs with it an they a slick as owl shite.

as long as it is level i dont think it would matter since it will all be dead

Isn't the level part accomplished at the top, not tha bottom? I am from Washitaugh, the only slump I know of is not finding a sorostitute at the Dugout for three straight weeks.

Pretty sure you wil need more ball bearings than have been talked about previously.

I believe every word they said. I just mentioned checking moisture and compaction to my wife, she said wait til your birthday. I suppose I am getting a new patio or my present.
