I'll be going down in July and staying in San Blas. Trailering the boat down. Probably only get one day away from the girls would you fish St Josephs Bay or over at Indian Pass?

I actually stayed there when I bought my boat. That little bay is a great place very early in the morning, lots of grass to try and find trout. Other than that, idk what boat you have, but it's going to be mostly offshore and I don't know much about that.

San Blas might be my favorite place next to Hilton Head. I'd try Indian Pass if it were me, but only because I've fished the bay already.

We have a house there, but don't fish as much as we used to, so can't help much there. But I do have a few recs for your trip.

1. Indian Pass Raw Bar, the original, not the one they call Uptown in PSJ. They have karaoke usually on Thursday night & Friday night, the older guy that puts it on ends up singing more than anyone else.
2. Visit Scallop Republic for beers and live music. The sun sets right over the bay and it makes for a good evening. The BBQ in the trailer by Scallop Republic is amazing, but you will pay out your arse for it. Try the greens.
3. We hardly ever go out down there to eat, but I would venture over to Appalachicola to eat or head down to Mexico Beach, specifically Shipwreck, it's the best value and IMO also has the best food, just get there early in the evening, they usually have some damn good happy hour deals too.
4. If you're going down through Wewahitchka, stop at the Shrimp Lady, she has better prices than anyone around PSJ, but sometimes you can hit the docks at Appalachicola and buy shrimp right off the boat, not sure if this is legal, but we've always done it.
5. My buddy's family owns Taproot, so I have to give them a shoutout too.

No way! Damn, I had no clue, shows how much I'm paying attention when I drive down.

Have you confirmed the docking.

We are staying in a house actually on the cape that has its own dock. Owners confirmed we can use it all week.

We go every summer. Its a great place for kids and to fish and chill. We stay of the gulf side of the cape. Its a cool hike with the family to the Cape San Blas point.

I would put in over in Apalachicola at least for one day and fish the pass out towards St Vincents. You can launch right before you get into town.

You can, there is also a less-known one further down toward Apalachicola. If you look on Google Earth, I think it's just labeled "Seafood Landing Spot", but its a public boat ramp.

It's pretty rustic. I went before Hurricane Michael. St. Joe's bay is nice, very clean. the tip of Cape San Blas has a nice beach bay side you can pull up to. All kinds of marine life. We dove for scallops while we were there (in season at the time). The beach on CSB face Apalachicola, is dirty from the bay run off. there was a lot of skates and small sharks right off the beach so we never when on the beach.

The public beach at the beginning of the cape may, but the majority of the cape doesn't, it almost faces in the complete opposite direction of Apalach.

I'm just talking about the east facing part of CSB looking toward Apalachicola. I am sure the rest is fine.

Correct anything before where the cape bends back will have a little bit dirtier water. Once you're past lighthouse bayou and on the "cape" it's perfect.

Although I've still managed to get stung by not 1 but 2 stingrays.

Been a couple decades but first time there we had a guide. Fished 100% topwater across the seagrass beds by the state park boat launch on the peninsula side.

He had us throw mirrolure prop baits and make strong rips across the beds. There’s so much floating grass that a walk the dog style would get grass fouled in the hooks.

We ended up catching a nice handful of trout, nothing like Louisiana but was fun.

Here is the lure, also recall that he would unscrew the front eye, flip the little metal cap around to make a cup in front.

5M-18

Loved that place, where I proposed to my wife (sorry no pics)

I was in Mexico Beach during the 2008 housing crash. There were for sale signs everywhere. I regret not buying.
