Happy for the kid as he just went through brain surgery a couple years ago but I don't watch that shite anymore.

I live on Guntersville and look out my back window and see no less than ten people livescoping at all times, it's out of control. I could buy one but I don't hunt & fish only for results, I am not going to sit and stare at a screen all day, that defeats the purpose of the outdoors for me.

This. To each his own.
For me, hunting and fishing is for the challenge and our primeval instincts of survival.

Problem solving and figuring things out on the fly is what enabled us to survive.

If I fish with a buddy that has it in his boat? All cool.
For me, I prefer the natural and instinctive ways to the outdoors.

Blame BASS for not banning FFS, not the kid for using something that provides an advantage and is allowed by rules.

If they're all using it, what is the advantage? The kid won fair and square.

No sense in hating on the kid if he followed the rules.

Put heat on basaster for allowing it. I’m ok with livescope for amateurs who fish for fun but all pro tournaments should ban it. You’re a pro, fish like it. But if the tourney allows it, you’re dumb not to use it otherwise you put yourself at a disadvantage

By the time they get to the Elites, they have that LiveScope thing down pat. Now as a senior, I got LiveScope and crappie down pat. But I'm not good at scoping bass.

I feel stupid because I bought a fishing boat from a friend last year that has livescope rigged on it and I couldn’t figure out how to use it. I suck with tech. So the screen sits in a case in my closet and I still sit out there drinking beer casting a lure hoping for a bite

Actually sitting on the balcony on vacation drinking now on lake Hamilton, will go fishing tomorrow

Look for local guides in your area, most offer day or 1/2 day electronics classes.

It can't be "THAT" hard to use, I have friends who can barely turn on a TV that use it.

At some point, BASS will ban it. Its going to happen, it is just a matter of how and when. FFS hurts a lot of things when it comes to competitive fishing. Sponsors, equipment sales , viewership and basically the competitive nature of the sport. So it will be eliminated. It has been in other leagues and the Elite series will do the same as soon as they know how.

A similar situation was dealt with on a smaller scale with the castable umbrella rig. "A-Rig"

It removes all the "learning and knowledge" part out of the sport. I know younger people look at it as a "old men bitching" thing but it really is more than that. Imagine a sport like Golf that all the sudden has a brand new digital golf club that could automatically make corrections to your swing while you play? If you left your swing open, it would adjust the head so you didnt slice the ball. A person who basically had no or very little knowledge about golf could all the sudden compete on the PGA tour. They would not have to worry about spending tons of times learning how to play different lies or situations that happen because the club would make those adjustments for them

It is hard to stop technology and honestly we shouldn't. But in competive sports, we have to keep it where people want to watch, want to be involved and for gods sake, people will start buying spinnerbaits and jigs again.

It is not the kids fault and no one should be blaming him. He is following the existing rules. But when they take it away, and they are going to do so, he and a lot of others, will not be on the elite series any longer. There was a reason he was dead last in elite series points after the first two events. Its because they were both in florida on shallow water lakes.

Yeah I think there will definitely be changes to it whether they limit it to one day, only for practice, or can’t use it on championship Sunday. Who knows but I can’t imagine viewership is up. Sponsors have to be concerned

The same people complaining have no problem with someone dragging a pink Senko over/under/through a big female bass on a bed in very shallow water for an hour, trying to get her to pick it up.

People are mad at the winner, but what did 2,3,4 and 5th place use? Chances are they had livescope too.

I’m on record as hating the technology at that level. I’ve fished TB and had a place there 20+ yrs. When I watched from my boat both circuits chase fish thru timber and boat lanes for an hour before getting them to bite I was convinced it was over the organizations. Thankfully MLF has restricted it. As aBASS nerd it’s truly devastating to see the sport evolve to thst.

What gets me is how they pick and choose. Two of my buddies HAD jet boats. Why? They loved fishing shallow, out of the way places. BASS banned them as an unfair advantage. I wouldn't mind seeing a wild-wild-west league where anything goes: forward facing sonar, umbrella rigs, trolling, jet boats, etc, etc

Does it hurt the fishery? That's my concern.

Nah screw that.

Of course my boat runs fine this morning heading out, I catch 3 bass in 30 minutes, big storm blows up out of nowhere and i go to leave, so outboard won’t crank. Turns over, won’t hit on shite. I’m far far away from the condo and dock. Storm hits, I get soaking wet. Drain my cranking batteries trying to start boat. Wind is blowing towards the island condo is on, I figure I’m too far for trolling batteries to last so I drift for 1.5 hours to save battery. Finally a boat passes and stops tows me in. Gave tge guy 60 bucks.

Get to dock, charge batteries, engine fires right up. FML
