I am going to bet he made the mistake of keeping food in the tent. Not any trees in that area to hang food in.

Bear Vault FTW.

If so, that was dumb. Rodents are more of a problem here. They will tear into your tent if you leave food in there.

The little added comment about sitting in his tent fapping to Eskimo porn made the OP that much better IMO

Helps, but I have found them not so foolproof. My garbage can is a glorified bear proof cache and it has proved anything but...

Bears are not attracted to humans, but are to other scents which they perceive to be food worthy. A bear ripping into a tent and attacking a human is an anomaly. You probably know as well as I that bear behavior is mostly predictable.

Sounds about right. I'm sure it's a little bit different with a polar bear, but who am I kidding.

Seems to me that a bear is pretty much a huge arse raccoon.

Imma bring my bow to school. I don't get done with class until 630ish and I'll be at school for 7am, so I don't think I'm bringing a target. Yall going out there?

I've got some schoolwork to get done after I finish class at 1:30, but if I got it out of the way I was gonna try to go and check if my sight is indeed on.

I'll be passing by around 7. I'll probably stop if I see somebody out there and see if anybody recognizes my truck

lol.....Yeah, who knows if anything ever will be. I got it because I read it's accepted anywhere food is required to be protected so I didn't have to buy several types. I also read some researcher talk about how they are seeing bears simply go the other way when seeing a vault.

I leave to backpack around Mt. Hood friday morning (42 miles) and I hope I see a bear. I have never seen one in Oregon. Had a late summer so hopefully there are still a few huckleberries around.

If I go it'll likely be just me, and I'll just stick a plate on one of the non rotten bails. I wish I had a target in BR but I just decided to quit spending money on bowhunting until next season
