damn. for someone who's had to battle poison ivy/oak/sumac multiple times in the last couple months, you'd think I would be an expert.

or the fact that everything looks poisonous to me now.

I've single handedly kept the manufactures of witch hazel in business.

Either way I'm gonna be in a Tyvek suit any time I'm cutting questionable vegetation.

You sound like my Dad used to. If he even looked in the general direction of any kind of poisonous plant he broke out in a rash.

I'm the opposite. Never bothered to learn to ID the plants as I just reached over and pulled whatever Dad had pointed to when he broke out in a rash.

Dad once got a breakout watching me weedeat a patch of poison sumac sprouts from about 15 yards away!

As a youngster I could make a few quarters here and there when I would break a poison ivy, oak, or sumac vine and rub it on my arm. I never broke out, never itched. Now, almost 60 years later, I get a very few small bumps and that’s it. One of my sons is not affected by the poison filled big 3 just as I was as a youngster. Another one does get the itchy patches and I think he takes after my wife’s side of the family. The Big 3 would make FIL break out almost over his entire bodily. A bee sting looks horrible and hurts him like crazy. My wife would also be greatly affected by just a red ant bite.
Some of us are lucky, some not.

That’s me. I don’t think they make it anymore. But I would always cover myself from head to toe in Ivy Block every time I planned on going in the woods. It worked well. But I can’t find it anymore.

Its that I never plan to pull weeds, but I'll be doing something in the yard, and next thing I know I'm pulling on stuff in shorts and a t shirt.
