As a kid, used to hunt squirrels and yes, robins, right where Woodstone and Woodgate are now. And yes, plenty of hunting off where Burbank is now. Used to dip crawfish to use for bait on my trotlines either in the ditches around LSU or in Bayou Fountain behind my neighborhood. Best thing is, I could walk or ride my bike to all those spots.

Highland and Airline between Airline and and the canal, both sides of the road where Albertsons and the Shell station is. Some of the best squirrel hunting I've ever done. Thy also used to have an abundance of deer but I never hunted the deer since it wasn't my property.

Up and down Jones Creek for Ducks. The real creek not the dredged out one. Present day White Oak. We had a friend who lived down Harrels Ferry road. We'd park at his house and cross the creek. Fairwood CC east to Millerville with an occasional hunt to O'Neal. Not many deer back then but plenty of squirrels and wood ducks. Ah, those were the days.

I know this was/is against the law, but when we were kids it was considered "Fair Game" and are very good eating. Momma made many a Robin Jambalaya for me and my buds back then.

I learned to duck hunt as a kid on Spanish lake. Hated to see us lose that. I would rent a canoe with my dad back in 1984 and we would paddle out to the flats and limit out on wood ducks in the blink of an eye. One of my fondest memories hunt with my dad was Spanish Lake.
Used to do the same here as a Teen back in the 70's. What a loss and what a shame.........

Some guy took me down river road to fish/hunt some old remnant lakes. Never said he had permission, but he sure acted like it. Imagine the surprise when I said, "Hey, here comes a truck" and he hauled arse like a scalded dog.

Before they actually built homes in the back of the subdivision we would just pull up in the truck, pop out a lawn chair and shoot doves coming over the tree line.
+1
This area intersects the area behind Tinseltown that Richardheadtigah is referring to.
We would even duck hunt the pond back there occasionally. We'd MAYBE see 3 or 4 ducks but it was fun.
