Is it cheaper going the custom route over getting a G3 or similar alweld boat?

Been wanting a 16ft side console with a 40-50 for awhile now.

Did you check w/ Skully's in Stephensville ??

I haven't bought from him, but a good friend has bought two work boats (twin outboards) and speaks very highly of their work.

I've worked with Scully's before. Definitely a top notch operation run by great people.

Top notch work boat but dont think they do smaller personal crafts. If they do I would definitely look into them.

Seemed like the mass produced were cheaper when I was pricing stuff out. Guess it just depends on what you want.

Sculllys won't mess with a little boat like that. Even if they would it would be triple the price compared to anyone else.

Are the quotes you are getting for just the bare metal hull or is it painted?

What's your budget? I'm in the same position as you right now. I've gotten quotes all over the map though, and I'm trying to narrow down a good budget.

I ordered a 1656 Havoc a few weeks ago. From the price sheet it looks like standard one color paint would be about 350. Camo paint jobs cost 438 and an additional 225 to spray liner inside. I would imagine you would be somewhere in that ballpark.

I really don't know. I'll say this: GatorTail quotes are about twice as much as what I've gotten back from builder.

Just getting a price quote from an independent builder has been a job. They do not like to talk on the phone. They'd rather do in person. I get that they probably have a lot of asshats calling who will never buy a boat.

Yeah I'm getting the same. My biggest hangup has been checking mudmotortalk all the time. Those fricks list their boats for more than it would cost for a new one from the custom guys. It throws me off, makes me wonder if the custom guys I'm talking to are worth a shite or are going to nickle and dime everything after they start the build.

I'm very close to calling prodigy and just saying frickit

I'm with you dude, but a prodigy is going to be 3X what these guys can build it for.

Mudmotor talk is a bunch of retards.

my email is still up above. hit me up and I can tell you more.

It's amazing how much money people think their stuff is worth. I rarely look at the classifieds in Louisiana Sportsman unless I want a good laugh.
