The same teens he granted a free pass to were probably the ones blasting off back there.

What better place to shoot skeet or plink bottles than a big sandbar.

And like someone pointed out earlier, Area 1 Rifle Season doesn't open until Nov 19. So if someone was hunting with "high-powered rifles" then they were hunting out of season, poaching, and he should call WLF.

Most likely, it was the teens just shooting, or people squirrel hunting (not with "high-powered rifles"), or shooting woodies (also out of season, and should be taken up with WLF).

I have heard rifles back there a good bit over the last few weeks but not "hunting" rifles (.270, 30-06, etc..). Sounded more like AR's, etc to me.

Youth week was 10/29 thru 11/4. Could have been high powered rifles. Youth is defined as someone 17years and younger.

Maybe that guy owns the property and was there long before the 2,000 residents.

I'll go hunt a creek behind my house back in Covington. Its outside the city limits, so as long as I'm 50 or 100 yards away from a house, according to an city laws page I read, I'm good. Thing is steel shot wouldn't piss people off cause there are so many trees, its popping woodies at 5:30 - 6 in the morning that does.

If it is in EBR Parish, there is an ordinance against shooting rifles within so many feet of a house. I want to say it's like 1/2 mile. I know it is a long way because we researched it years ago. But shotguns were only like 500 feet.

It's against the law in EBR to shoot rifles back there. Having the land owner's permission would change nothing, but Mr. Sullivan did not give anyone permission.

You really do sound like a little bitch man. Typical, people from elsewhere moving in and trying to change what "locals" having been doing for a long arse time. Whine all you want, people will always hunt and shoot back there unless that property ever gets developed. Have you actually seen people in the woods with rifles?

How would you know who has permission to do what?

Shooting rifles back there is illegal. Period You're idiots.

ETA: I had the Sherrif's office call the landowner. I believe his name is Sullivan. Word I got back from EBRSO was that nobody has permission to hunt back there and it's illegal anyway.

game. set. match.

lol... riiight.

obviously you know less than you think you do. i'm not going to go into detail any further as to not give you more info than you need but i can promise, regardless of what "mr sullivan" said you wont see any decrease in shooting activity back there.
