I have a Gamo Shadow 1000 Air Rifle 177 Caliber Synthetic Stock with a bsa scope and can hit squirrels in the head at 30 yards. Sent it off to S. Carolina & had it tuned. 1200 fps. Quiet.

Nah bruh. Subsonic 22 ammo is generally pretty crappy and inconsistent. Most of the top notch air rifles are much more accurate than any 22 subs. Air rifles are serious business now.
I get what you're saying Downshift & you're correct. I should have been more specific in my statement. My Marlin shoots better than my break barrel pellet rifle. It is also perfect for shooting coons and squirrels in city limits. I live in Tampa and have had zero issues with the noise it produces. I use the Marlin in city limits to teach my grand kids how to shoot if we're just piddling at the house. In comparison it's much easier to use than "my break barrel pellet rifle"

Look I have no dog in the hunt but the OP doesn't need a x00 - x,000 budget to kill squirrels/coons. Y'all have fun with those PCP air rifles and all the accessories it takes to use them. I should add enjoy the maintenance too. All good to go.

FWIW: The Marlin isn't a one pony show it uses (shorts, longs & LR) with shorts it will do the job quietly. Sure, you can spend a fortune on a PCP for tree rats and coons or you can use the money you save on all the PCP gear for stuff that matters. Like a nice new deer rifle or 4-wheeler lol.

OP if you're looking for air rifles PyramydAir.com is a good place to get info.

My Sig break barrel is an amazing rifle. I have actually moved on to a lesser powered CO2 for house sparrow eradication. The Sig would absolutely wreck a squirrel and it's only .177.
