The prices are nice if the rail is any good especially since it includes the P&W. Nice variety also.

I haven't bitten yet since I don't need one but it was nice to actually have a chance to purchase a new PSA product. It seems anything I want is always out of stock and I miss the 1 minute order window.

eta: damn, it's not CHF

seems like the only way to get a 13.7 FN barrel is to buy an upper and lower separately. if they paired it, that would be above the advertised "sub-$1k" range.

Nitride isn't necessarily bad (like the Zion 15).

PSA's issue isn't what they use but their inconsistent QC.

Yeah, I’m surprised to see Stag Arms in the F-Tier. Their rifles are pretty expensive.

This is what he had to say about Stag Arms.

I don’t recommend these brands. For anyone. I won’t go brand-by-brand since they all have the same issues and are at the bottom of the AR-15 brand rankings for a reason. Quality control is the biggest failing of a firearm brand. Any miss is unacceptable but might be forgiven since nothing is perfect. These brands have a proven history of missing a LOT and not by small amounts. Bad chambers, unsafe bolts, huge cosmetic flaws, the list goes on.

If it’s not full auto I’d take nitride over chrome lined. I wouldn’t pay more for it but nothing wrong with nitride at all, and it’s easier to maintain accuracy during manufacturing vs chrome.

With good handloads/match grade 75-77g ammo, you can get about 1.5 MOA with an FN CHF barrel.

Ballistic Advantage guarantees 1 MOA or better with their Nitride barrels, but they also probably last 2-3x less., mostly because of the hammer forging and somewhat to do with the chrome plating.

It's just up to you what you want the rifle for. Personally, I like knowing you'll never damage the bore or shoot the barrel out for an extra $100-$200, and sacrificing that half MOA, but that's not everyone's opinion.

Regardless, Nitride is a solid option if you aren't going to be firing 3-5K rounds a year, which I would bet is 95% of most hobby shooters.

Well done nitride lasts about the same as chrome lined on a semi auto. What makes you think it would be less than half?

Full auto, chrome, no question.

One thing I can say bout my SW Sporter. Came out of the box already zeroed. Took it to police range and had the firearms instructor zero it for me. Shot several groups with it, gave it back. .Said it was already zeroed. Damn good factory work.

Who is "he"? Fact is you can get out of spec, improperly machined parts from anyone on that list at any time. $350 LMT bolt? There are bad ones out there. Many of these companies have CNC machining cells that are fed raw bar stock at one end and spit out finished parts on the other. Almost no human interaction unless the machine detects a problem or an operator catches it by chance. Tooling wears out, is improperly loaded into holders, raw materials have hidden flaws, etc. Some company gets a contract to make 100,000 cam pins, they have the equipment that's going to run 24/7 on an auto feeder and they get 9310 bars from whoever will supply it fast enough. Going to be bad ones that wind up in a Stag, SAI, & LMT so who gets the blame and who gets a pass because of the name and someone who paid $500+ for a BCG isn't saying shite...

One company making 13,000 bolt carriers a month (as of a few years ago). There are dozens of these companies churning out parts for all kinds of OEMs.

For those of you that know, what situations would you prefer .223 Wilde over 5.56?

ETA: also, the reason for thinking I would want an FN Barrel for these is because last year when I was looking at PSA AKs, you all said to get the one with an FN Barrel. I got a “blem” model so it came with a nitride, but I figured since I’m spending more for this rifle, the FN was the way to go.

ETA: i think i'm down to these two:

they're essentially the same gun, but different barrel and muzzle device.

PSA "SABRE" FORGED 14.5" .223 WYLDE M4 13" QD RAIL AND PIN/WELD RIFLE WITH SABRE FURNITURE - $799

PSA "SABRE" FORGED 13.7" MID-LENGTH 5.56 WITH 13" QD RAIL AND JMAC GFHC-E PIN/WELD SABRE FURNITURE RIFLE - $899

I don’t see any downside to getting a 223 wylde. You get the best of both 5.56 and 223.
