Lafayette, check with Trails in Henderson. Always heard they have great prices and have quite a few friends that have purchased from them without and complaints.

The only 2 stroke on the market right now is the etech.

The gen 2’s are fantastic. The look is growing on me.

Mercury advantages: More power and torque from the most in-class displacement (2.1L), less weight (over 20 lbs lighter than the closest competition), maintenance-free valve train with less moving parts (SOHC), more charging power , larger and more robust gear case, more propeller selection, easier maintenance, quieter and smoother operation, superior corrosion resistance, longer available warranty (8 years), and best of all its built right here in the USA.

Contact our office on Monday if you would like pricing and availability. Thanks.

I’ve had my mercury 150 four stroke for a year and a half now. The maintenance of the motor is really well thought out if you do that yourself. I certainly recommend it if you are looking at 150s.

I think BRP has a 10 year warranty on the etech FWIW

I will say this about the etec, its a complex arse motor. The rotating assembly might be far simpler than a 4 stroke but its direct injected which means high pressure fuel system that doesnt tolerate water and lots of electronics. Don't buy one thinking youll be able to fix it like your old evinrude

They changed the warranty a few times in the past few years to promote sales.
I got mine when it was 10 yr warranty.
Went to the dealer 3 days before the end of the quarter and at that time it was a 6yr warranty.
Dealer said wait 3 days and it is going to 10 yrs.
I did and when it went to 10 yrs the guy was backed up for two weeks repowering engines.
Last month it was a 7 yr warranty.

Similar to Mercury 3 + 2 promo they do it to promote engines.

Ten was a promo like JR said, I wouldn’t wait for it be offered again. BRP has a good product but will be a dinosaur like their predicessor Johnny/Rude. After Merc gives Yamaha back what they were given the last 15 years all of the jap/Canada motor mfgs are going to shiat a brick.

I am in the market for an outboard as well. Can a lot of $ be saved by shopping around like with cars? Trying to decide between Yamaha or Suzuki.

When i was shopping the prices were close enough to not matter locally. 140 Zuki or 135 etech is going to be my choice.

International Marine in Florida has THE best pricing on zuks. Price them for a baseline and as bad as I hate it, H&M in Crowley for the Yamaha. Zero service from either but you’re buying price anyway.

Appreciate it,

DWSHT the Etechs are significantly heavier than suz or Yamaha.

It depends what hp youre looking at. The 135 is heavy for the hp because its the same v6 as the 200.

The G2s are too heavy.

Yea I am looking at the smaller motors, either a 70 Yamaha or 60 Suzuki.
