Which means I paid to biuld that facility. Why do I have to pay 10 dollars to use something I paid for?
You ever go fly the Ouachita parish plane?

Well, those veterans wrote a blank check to protect your right to go to that range, the least you can do is pay 10 bucks and not complain about it.
This type of veteran worship/phrasing waters down military service.
Some serve to *serve.*
For others, it's a guaranteed job/paycheck for 3-4 years, "free" college/housing afterward, tons of lifetime benefits, a chance to see other parts of the world, etc.
Look no further than recruiters' pitch to prospective recruits. Service to country, its citizens/taxpayers is only a piece of it.
Military service warrants respect on its own merits. There's no need to church it up with these overly dramatic statements.

I don't mind paying the $10 and my son still shoots free as he is 14.
I like the fact that it has a set of grumpy old deputies enforcing the rules. Sometimes there will be a shooter who can't understand standing behind the yellow line when shooters are down range. Those old deputies will sort that out in short order in a clear manner.
If you follow the rules they will gladly help you with whatever you need.

That being said, how is the rifle range? I have a 30-06 I need to sight in. Any specific rules I need to know about the place? Bring my own target sheet, type of rounds, etc.?
As I mentioned above, I like it. The main rule is if the line is cold, you stand behind the yellow line if you aren't down range checking your target. This is so no one is even close to their firearm while anyone is in between the stand and the targets.
They supply targets but allow you to bring your own. Every rifle booth has a bench. I've never encountered anyone having any issues with their ammo.

Not doing that here, just stating the facts bud. Whether or not those that signed did it for an education/trade (such as me) or they just wanted to serve their country. They both signed a blank check that said they would give their life if called to it.
Sorry if that allows those people a few extra kudos that you didn't get by not missing all those holidays with your family, missing the birth of their kids, missing the funerals of loved ones. I mean c'mon man. good grief

are not the same thing. One's military service has frick all to do with a Sheriff's Dept. shooting range and a taxpayer wondering why he has to pay $10 to use it.
Also, I'm not your "bud" and I'm not your junior either, sport.
The OP has a valid complaint. If something is taxpayer funded and open to the public, it should be on the same terms for all. Anything else amounts to government recognition of separate classes of citizenry. Equal Protection and all that.
Private entities are another matter and I fully encourage them to show their appreciation in any way they choose.

Agree. But add on to the list of 1000 other things you have to pay for twice.

I can afford 10 dollars. Not the point.
I've learned over the year when someone says "It's not about the money" It's always about the money.

But I have a Driver's license to prove my Ouachita Parish Residency. Which means I paid to biuld that facility.
Did you tho? please explain how you built that facility? Be specific?
