That or the creedmoore would be your only options in a AR platform capable for elk

You are probably talking about an AR-10 . I don't have 1 of those I have an AR-15 with a carrying handle top.

I have a mount that locates through the hole in the handle and everything can be removed and replaced without having to be re-sighted in.
Can also still use the sights underneath.

I have a Redfield Revolution 3-9x50 for it.

I have removed and re-installed the whole thing ( it's only 1 nut that holds it all on) about 4 times and it's always right on the money each time.

I know it isn't very top of the line, but it has worked pretty well for me, and I think it would be even better on a carry handle AR-10.

Not enough for an elk but I’d probably put a 3-9x or a 4-12x

That's a broad question. What's your budget?

If you are saying 6.5 Grendel is not enough for elk, you are not correct.

I’m in agreement with others that 6.5 Grendel would be pushing it for elk. A quick google search shows a 123gr Hornady SST doing 2580 at the muzzle. Just for reference, my dad takes his 300 win mag elk hunting and that slings a 180gr pill at 2950. Those two aren’t even in the same orbit in terms of muzzle energy.

I just got one of these. Fantastic scope and for $750 there isnt really another scope that compares. Bushnell LRHS 4.5-18x

ETA: The 3-12x version would be better, but its not a part of this deal.

I didn’t say it wouldn’t kill one. I said he shouldn’t try to use it.

Kinda like a .22 on a whitetail. Will it kill it? Absolutely.
Do you have a really good chance of something bad happening?
Damn straight.

Not the wisest choice for an elk.
