Before my grandparents home was sold, we had to figure out what to do with a few deer mounts that he had.

I chose to take a 10 point shoulder mount that he killed in Jackson Bienville Reserve in Nov of ‘72. Still looks great and guests still make remarks about it.

Anyone else still have any of the old ones?

Back in the late 70's early eighties my dad had a general store/gas station type thing and a local taxidermist would try and sell some things there.

Sometimes my dad would buy something if the guy needed some financial help. CSB short, there has been a large buffalo head mount above the fireplace in every home my parents have ever lived in for almost 40 years.

Looks as good now with a santa hat on it at Christmas as it did in 1980.

a lot of them look better at a distance that they do up close, I'm starting to see my 20 year old mount start to decline when I look close.

This thread needs some pictures though

I agree
I have one, it’s just a pain in the arse to upload pictures on here now. Unless I’m doing it wrong

I know you said “Mount that still looks good” But there used to be an old swamp deer mounted that hung in Middendorfs before they remodeled. It was by the bathrooms. Every time I saw it I admired how pitiful it was. It had to have been 40 or more years old.

Have a mount in our camp from '52

It doesn't look like a new mount by any stretch, but it's still all there and IMO looks pretty good.
