Seemed like 40 is when most got hit with the need for glasses.
Did the scope start to get a little blurry in lower light situations, and did glasses/contacts help??

I feel like my low light vision has been meh since my mid 30s (46 now). I'll stay up until dark, but I see a heck of a lot better through the scope than without it. Hear the sound, find the movement, then I scope it out and go from there. No way I'm counting antler points at dusk, I can barely tell there are any. This is within 70 yards, I don't hunt long lanes and rarely do fields.

It was late 40's for me. Bought my iron sights pistols before moving to reader glasses. Turns out my Ruger is old enough that I cannot add optics. The conceal carry Is much newer but it has no spot to add optics (bought on sale good deal). AR has a red dot on it so that helps a lot. Now I've got to replace my CC with something that has optics. New toy incoming.

Calcotron, will you please hunt with binoculars so that you don’t “scope out” one of us in low light conditions?

Seemed like I need readers in mid 40s. I could hardly see the eyes of flies to tie them on.

I have binos when needed. I never shoot anything unless I know exactly what it is. But wear your orange...

Definitely around 40yo for me. Can't focus on front pistol sight to save my life. Might be a stupid question, but on that topic, can you get eyeglass prescriptions that are optimized to focus specifically that distance from your eyes? I have to shoot with my prescription readers, not exactly safety glasses.

Maybe give contacts a try. They can be a pain in the arse at times, but it’s nice to be able to see both short and long distance equally as well.

My vision is so bad I have to wear low readers daily and use high power readers to read the OB. Have to take it all off to look thru scope. I’ve had to refocus the eyepiece but the clearest view is with none.

I’m 59 though

low light as a whole started sliding when I hit 55. First 5-10 mins of legal - have trouble picking up ducks in timber. Last 15 in woods. scopes still fine(when I use them).
