Hell, in the Hickok45 review you linked he said he would rather the KSG.

Not sure what you are thinking of, but no.

Ok obviously you have never shot the UTS 15..i have..all you get is shot, shot, jam..clear jam.shot, jam. clear jam. shot shot jam.. over and over..

Did you tear it down and lube it? I shot one and the owner said he had some feed problems for about 100 rds and then he lubed it and it was gtg. I fired it after and had no issues. Without reading every review in the net, and having held both, the UTS is more well thought-out.

A short barreled VEPR 12 is far superior to either.

Dude you can defend it all you want but there are 100 other things about that gun that suck. Watch this Nutnfancy review of it and I bet you will laugh your arse off at how laughable some of the features are.

For example, it has a PLASTIC feed ramp. A PLASTIC feed ramp? How do you expect that to not be rough as sandpaper after 1000s of rounds?

Also, the rail on top is plastic. Anytime I see that I instantly think the company was too cheap to put a steel one on there. That is a HUGE red flag.

Watch this video and you will realize how ridiculous it is too.

My buddy up here is friends with the guy who makes Birdsong AR's, we're going to his shop in June to check it out. Hopefully I'll leave with something cool

Actually it was, just a fake M203.

I am not defending it and after seeing pictures of it and the Keltec breaking into pieces, I wouldn't own either. I was only making an observation about design after having briefly dicked around with both. The "clear jam door" and alternating feed selector make it superior, imo.

Again, neither should be relied on for anything important. The VEPR 12 (and, to a lesser degree, an upgraded Saiga 12) is a high cap option you could trust with your life. The other two are just conversation pieces.

Not if the entire selector is made of cheap plastic. It is a pivotal piece of the gun functioning and the one on the UTS sucks nuts.

I think the KSG is much more than smoke and mirrors. It is a much more thought-out design. Every piece of the puzzle works together.

But I haven't done extensive testing with either one so a good ole 870 does the job for me. Regardless, I know a better design when I see one, and the KSG has the UTS beat my 100 miles.

so you're ok with the receivers being made of plastic, but the selector switch bothers you?

Long term, the pressure and recoil on a 12 ga is too much for plastic, imo.

The receiver isn't made of plastic.

Watch the video. The lower portion, pistol grip, and stock are plastic. The entire body where the chamber is and where your cheek sits is made of steel.

I'm with you that I feel more comfortable with a traditional 12 gauge (Rem, Moss, Win, Ith) but to say the KSG is equal to the UTS is far off.

Then again, different strokes for different folks.

Both the KSG and UTS are in early initial stages, the ones where the bean counters and price points control quality. Give it ten years for the adults to play with them and solve the problems and the 870's and 500's will probably go the way of the M1 and M14. Its a no brainer 14 rounds will beat 7 every time if reliability isnt an issue.

The UTS is much farther behind. It is in its first iteration whereas the KSG has been revised a couple of times.

The only thing I probably wouldn't be crazy about with the KSG is the rear-downward ejection. I've seen some videos where guys have cut their forearms with an ejected shell.

Besides that, the KSG is very very short and not nearly as tall and bulky as the UTS.

Im familiar with both designs. Both suffer from a fatal flaw, you short shuck them and they fail to extract and feed. Thats why the UTS drove nutnfancy crazy when he tried to pit it through its paces but Hickock45 hit every target on his range without a single misfire. Remember when the AR15 came out several integral features were left out because bean counters at the DOD thought they were to expensive and unnecessary, brass deflectors cleaning kits and a chrome lined bore werent standard until the A1 and A2 models.

I'd love to have a Glock. What better weapon to pistol whip someone with, than that big gripped bastard?

Seriously, if I had a few grand to blow on a collection, it would be:
1) A pair of Colt SAA's
2) A Delta Elite
3) A Henry 45-70
4) A Sunday carry completely custom 1911
5) A Beretta White Onyx
6) An AR 10 & 15

Actually that's not true. If you watch the 50 minute video of his review, he and his son both tried racking the slide in different manners, both hard and soft, but both all the way rearward. That gun was at fault. Granted it may have been a lemon compared to Hickoks, the gun is still cheap and overpriced.

WAY too much plastic and not intuitive. For example, the both release is all the way on the bottom of the stock. So you have to move your firing hand off the gun to push the button at the back. The cheek weld also has a very hard corner RIGHT where your cheek goes. The UTS design was not nearly thought out as well as the KSG.

To get back on track:

M1 Carbine

M1A SOCOM II

Sig 552 Commando

HK G36C Suppressed

HK UMP 45

And how about a SPAS-12 in case you run into any Velociraptors.

I don't like the SOCOM 2 much because of the gigantic metal cage on the front.

But I will happily take a SOCOM 16. This thing would be a hell of a pig slayer.
