Y'alls thoughts on The School Of The American Rifle You tube channel?
Dudes knowledgeable, but why do these guys always think we need the "BEST OF THE BEST". Like how many of you actually put 10k rounds through a weapon, honestly? I shoot more than probably 85% of people who own guns, and I cant recall the last time I put more than 100 rounds through one of my ARs in one day. I usually bring 4-5 and shoot one or two mags through before switching it up.

Microbest and KAK are the best 2 for the money imo. Microbest chrome w/ phosphate extractor is legit.
How about Toolcraft?

In need of a durable (if exists) extractor for 7.62x39 steel cases. Currently getting less than 500 rounds of Tula through the AR before extractor failure. TIA

If I pick up an enticed l, how hard would that be to tune up a 6.5 grendel 18” barrel? It’ll also go on a 20” bolt action. I want the sound dampening effects and don’t care about the weight.

He's got me rethinking my bolt carrier purchases
After much $$ down the shitter with stupid purchases, try to stick with true military grade parts now.
Contract brands like AO Precision and Microbest for BCGs. (Toolcraft has had many BCG contracts too, just never used their stuff). Try to get contract overruns when possible and stick only with HP/MPT bolts and phosphate or chrome carriers with the proper mil TDP and use good springs.
Also try to use Schmid parts as much as possible. These include small parts like buffer tubes, castle nuts, endplates, LPks, etc. They also make a very good budget 2-stage trigger. Schmid is a major contractor and OEM.
Also... Invest in the proper tools if you want to work on your rifle properly. Most people probably don't even have a torque wrench when they start out. Also, try to get the TDP for all torque specs. Do most people know that a castle nut needs 40 f-ing ft lbs. and double staking?
Needless to say, any built rifle has now been torn apart and headpaced, re-spec'd, re-lubed, anti-seized, etc., multiple times now to where I feel comfortable with them.
Previously, would have bought the cheapest shite possible.

Got a vise and stand from Harbor Freight and torqueing barrel nuts is easy now.

Steel case and the AR platform just don't like each other, but KAK does make a dual ejector 7.62x39 BCG, likely exactly for this issue.
A dual ejector setup should help relieve stress on the extractor.
$250

This receiver rod will make it even easier, too. Plus it makes sure your barrel chamber is not clocked improperly.

Also, the Midwest armorers wrench is great.
Real Avid also actually makes decent stuff if you want super budget tools that still work.

Got two phosphate and chromed BCGs from PSA and one of KAK's latest models.

Here’s some info about those KAK bolts on Reddit with images.

Now that I've got my 300 blk tuned, I've been able to shoot a little with the KAK down vent BCG. No issues at all and no real indication that it's much dirtier than a standard bolt. Still don't have a thousand rounds or anything through it, but happy so far. This is all unsuppressed...still waiting for my stamp.

That’s what the spec says. Most people don’t need that for their rifles.

Never once staked a castle nut as l like switching things out fairly often.
Never had one come loose

Speaking of mil TDP, it says to use Aeroshell grease on steel to aluminum threads. But wouldn't a nickel-based anti-seize work even better?
Or is that too conducive to corrosion over time?

Unless you're long-term submerging it in salt water you shouldn't see any corrosion regardless of the grease used, or if no grease is used at all.

I’ve been running fail zeros in all my builds for years after finally getting irritated with some others. So far I like them and no issues.

My BCM BCG was free so I can't complain.
