Speaking of builds, Primary Arms has stripped Aero Precision M4-style uppers in stock right now for $63. LINK

They are even t-marked. You won't find a better deal for an apocalypse build right now.

Yeah, I should say assembly. The upper is complete, just assembling the lower. Bought a wrench, vice block, and punch set. After watching a few videos this should be simple enough.

re: Official AR-15 thread
Been in the market for a while and finally bit down on a good deal for my first scary black gun. Bought a naked PSA 10.5" 5.56 pistol as a range gun/home defense/possible truck gun.

Upper is flat picatinny with no fixed or BUIS with an M-lok foregrip. The "brace" it came with is the SBA3, which seems to be a lot of peoples' favorite, but I'm open to being convinced to swap any of the furniture out if there's better stuff.

Any suggestions for what toys I should buy for it? Optic recommendations, lights, suppressor options, etc.

vice block,

You don't need that but you'll probably eventually end up wanting to swap a barrel down the road.

And it is simple, just pay attention when people warn you about the detent spring in the lower parts kit. There's also a good trick for a using Knipex or vice grip pliers for the trigger guard and bolt catch pins.

I have a few Holosun that I like.

suppressor

Depends on what you're looking for.

I have a dead air Sandman S in jail. It's known to be pretty much bullet proof.
Thunderbeast Dominus is another really good one as is Surefire.

There are plenty others. These 3 are all bulletproof though

For a 10.5" I would prioritize a suppressor. If you shoot that thing inside you're going to need to learn sign language.

High end red dots take your pick (I like Eotech but they all work), lower end I'd go with Holosun or Primary Arms. Streamlight TRL HL for a light. If you're not familiar with ARs at all I'd get some folding backup sights, the plastic Mapgul if you don't want to spend much, and learn how to shoot with them. The standard AR sight picture isn't typical so even if you're familiar with firearms it would be worth it to learn irons IMO.

Thanks! There's a gun show in town next weekend so I'm hoping to find some good deals on accessories there.

Have you decided which magazines you want to use?

I have two
Frontier Armory with MP5 magazines

The new Aero EPC that takes glock mags

The FA is an 8” barrel the EPC is a 16” barrel.

Only had the EPC for a couple of weeks but it ran flawlessly and I really like that it has a bolt open after last round.
Not sure if both of those require proprietary lowers.

Going with the Colt mags this time. I have the New Frontier MP5 compatible lower already.

I’m asking because I don’t know, I’d have to look at mine, if the lower is MP5 compatible, can you run different style magazines?

MP5 lower is not compatible with the Colt magazines. Which upper are you running?

re: Official AR-15 thread
The lower went together surprisingly easy. Took my time and followed a video step by step and had no real issues other than making sure the pins and holes all lined up right.

Looking forward to trying it out and being in the scary black gun club.
