E file form 1s are pretty easy though from what I’ve seen. Doing it yourself that is
They are. Granted the efile website looks like something straight out of the late 90’s, but it can be done in 30 min or less. Last one took me around 40 days or so for approval.

A good AR should have no problem shooting steel cased ammo. Only issue I’ve had was when using an h2 buffer with tula. It’s just very underpowered stuff and wouldn’t cycle reliably. Switched out back to m193 and problem solved. So if you have a normal carbine buffer and spring combo it should work fine.

And it appears PSA is having some issues, because I received one part out of all that was ordered.
That's unfortunate.
What are you missing?

I ordered a completed upper from PSA on 7/7/2020 and now my order is listed as closed. Is this normal for PSA to go to a closed status before shipping? I can't get in touch with anyone at PSA. I did receive my lower build kit.

BCG and little pieces. Stainless bits and bobs to complete the build.
Granted rightobear has been sitting on my order for 4 days as it is...

any AR should shoot Steel cased just fine. modern steel casing isnt made with shite powder like the old russian stuff. You just cant reload it, and may get a flyer here or there.
on a side note, did my first two gun competition, ran my PSA upper 16' inch barrel, with a miculek comp, vortex optic. It was a ton of fun, and id encourage everyone to find a local club that runs those.

My form 1 was approved today and my lower came back from laser engraving!
Of course, I immediately set about building the lower and launched the damned pivot pin detent and spring into orbit at the first opportunity I got. I was even assembling it inside a gallon Ziploc and it somehow snuck out, bounced off a glass, and then joined the stately celestial dance.
Do any of you guys know where in Baton Rouge I can buy a AR-15 lower spring and pin kit or just the pivot pin spring and detent? Otherwise, I have to get it from Midway or somewhere like that and the earliest I can finish my rifle will be Monday.

Too scared to cross the basin. There might be a wreck and I'd be stuck.
Any gunsmith should have those things on hand. It's not as if it's an uncommonly lost or broken part for an obscure rifle. I just need to find one that's willing to let me give him 20 bucks for two springs and two detents. I'm just hoping that one of you knows who that guy is so I don't have to call every one in the phone book.

tell your pops to get a vortex magnifier to go with it... it really enhances the eotech

I just bit the bullet on one last night. I’m gambling that they’ve fixed their issues and the the company they just sold to will be around for the 10 year warranty.

They still will experience thermal drift. EVERY optic experiences thermal drift. It just tends to be more noticeable on the HWS, up to 3.5 MOA if you really take it to the extremes and acclimate the sight to -40F or 120F. The question is whether or not it really matters for how you intend to use it.
I never expect to use the rifle mine is mounted on past about 100 yards and my target's way bigger than a dime at those ranges; I don't care if my point of impact moves an inch or so off of my point of aim (at the extremes of the range I will use it in) during the dead of winter or the middle of summer as long as I can quickly acquire and aim. That one inch doesn't make a lick of difference to me given the intended use of the thing. If I were planning to use the thing in a location where it reaches -40F or 120F, all I'd have to do is rezero the thing once it's acclimated to the new temperature. It's when you zero at one temperature and then use it after the sight acclimates to another temperature that causes the drift. However, in South Louisiana when I zero at 70 degrees on the range, I'm never getting far enough away from my zero temperature to cause more than about a 1-2 MOA shift.
If I were a competition shooter at 300 yards, it would make a difference, but it's the wrong tool for that job. Complaining about thermal drift with a HWS making you miss the bullseye at 300 yards is like complaining about how terrible your screwdriver is at driving nails.
I'm in the same boat you are with the warranty. I got mine last year, so there's plenty of time for shenanigans if I have trouble with mine.

I’m not concerned about that. It was evident at extreme temperature differences and wouldn’t matter at self defense ranges anyway. I was more concerned about glass delamination and battery drain while turned off. I think they’ve fixed both of those. The company that bought them appears to be serious about holographics and defense contracts, so I don’t think they bought them just to shut it down.
I used plenty of Aimpoints courtesy of Uncle Sam. I like them but the Eotech is just faster for me, especially as my eyes age. I’ll probably still get a green MRO and maybe another Aimpoint and just keep whichever’s my favorite on the rifle I keep loaded.

Ahhh. I have not had the glass on my delaminate. The battery drain is what it is with these things. I've had to change the battery once in the year I've had mine. It still inhales power when it's running, but mine doesn't appear to have bad power draw when it's off.
