Picked up my first AR from the FFL. M&P Sport II with Magpul MOE handguard.
Finally settled on an optic. Like it so far for a general purpose type rifle.
Any substantive reason to upgrade the stock? The USGI version seems to work well - I prefer the textured plastic over rubber. I may just replace the grip and call it a day.

If you bought an AR for self defense or zombies and you plan on getting some training, you'll definitely start finding some preferences.

Makes sense. I’m most familiar with the textured teardrop shape from shooting the M1 Garand and carbine, as well as the traditional sling placement, so I’ll stick with it. Never liked the rubber pads since they seem to do nothing but catch on clothing.

Got a Windham Weaponry gov't model. Damn fine gun.

I like the Magpul CTR for a basic carbine stock. Main reason is because it locks.

I installed the Hogue overmold grip on my M&P15 and I like it a lot. The hard plastic grip that came on mine was pretty uncomfortable. This one has a rubberized, tacky feel to it.
I'm going to add the Mission First Tactical Battlelink minimalist stock at some point.

ETA: I have a simple Bushnell TRS-25 red dot on mine that I'd like to move to my Mossberg 590A1. How do you like the Sig Romeo5?

Yeah not a huge fan of the A2 grip. I’ll check out that Hogue and maybe the CTR stock mentioned earlier. Looks like the rubber pad is removable.
I’m new to red dots but my online searches brought me to the Romeo5. The packaging was top notch and the absolute co-witness was perfect out of the box. What really sold me on it was the 40,000+ hour battery life and the motion activated on/off. Seems pretty sturdy. My local range is still closed so I’m anxious to test it out.

So what would you SBR in the last slot. I grabbed 4 form1s from SilencerShop to do my first sbr’s.
I have decided to do my B&T APC45, A-Salt AR so I can swap with my other ARs, and my legacy MCX so I can finally put the 9” .300blk barrel on it that’s been sitting In the safe for years. I bought the mcx as a 16” 223 rifle.
The last slot I’m looking at a MKE Z5RS, PSA KS47 (10.5” 7.62x39) or my PSA 12” .308 space cannon.

I'd go with the Z5RS. The only SBRs I have are AK variants and while fun, there is just something about sbr mp5 style guns.

I have one of those. Probably one of my least favorite stocks I've ever owned. Can't tell you why. It's tight as hell. Just never warmed up to it. It's now on my son's Crosman R1.

Tight as in "cool looking" or as in "really hard to adjust"?

I'm a 44 year old Engineer who wore a pair of Crocs to lunch today. I'll let you make an educated guess.

To be fair, a 44 year old would say something is "tight" if it looked good. You may not but that's definitely the age group.

There's just something inherently wrong with polymer and wood on the same gun.
