Pls correct me if wrong but from what I understand to get the full benefit of the grendel u need to have at least a 20" barrel. I ordered a bison 16" 6.8 & have been very satisfied. In retrospect probably would get a 12.5" barrel if I had to do again.
Would also check out GA arms www.blackstonearms.com they sell complete 6.8 uppers as well

That can be said for all calibers, right?
The 6.8 was designed for 12-16” but the cartridge does better in a 20”.
My 6.8 is a 20”
My 6.5 grendel is a 18”
I have 2 .308s with 18” barrels optimal for that is 26”
The original m-16 had a 20” barrel. I have one in 10.5”.

Thx BB. So what is my way to get under the 800 with the other stuff? Do i just need a loaded lower with stock and mags?
Just so I'm clear, you're wanting to buy a rifle and another upper for $800 total?
Or just an upper, mags, dies, etc?

Got my upper and red dot in today! 10.5in 300 blackout by BCA and a Vortex red dot. Just need to sight it in.
No. Buy a complete 223, then purchase the 277 Wolv barrel and dies. By all I've studied is the only swap needed to be made is the barrel. The receiver and mags will run both.
My thinking was start out letting the kids plink a can of 223 at targets, then trim the brass down for 277 Wolv and reload that for awhile. Figured the savings would come from cheap 223 brass instead of 6.8 prc brass/cartridges.
Hope that clears it up a touch.

I get what you're saying.
Just buy a new upper instead of switching the barrels out.
It's it's hard but it's just not necessary. You can buy a stripped upper for $50, barrel for $100ish (my 6.5 grendel barrel was around $175 but easy to find cheaper), hand guard for ~ $100.
gas block and tube are cheap
charging handle is cheap.
You can get a BCG for around $100
You now buy complete upper for cheaper.
PSA for $349
If you do that, all you need to do is pop two pins and replace with different upper.

They said that they are taking a long arse time to ship. They are offering 35%off coupons though when you get your order. Some dude on reddit got 3 of those 35% off ones when his order got in.
Yeah, waiting on two receiver sets and two rails. I've emailed twice and keep getting the same "we are working on it". At this rate I've just moved onto other projects. When they come in, they come in. I have been seeing that some people with decent size orders are getting free triggers thrown in for the extended wait time.
Guess they're spending too much time on foreign optics no one asked for or crappy coffee.

Has anyone ordered anything from the Geissele Black Friday sale? Still patiently waiting as I have not received my order.
I ordered a lot of stuff. I got everything before Christmas.

Lol, what's sad is I was watching a shot video and one of the employees said the scope isn't completely daylight bright like the vortex razor 1-6. In a market saturated with lpvo options, idk why they decided to jump in with something that doesn't even really compete with the vortex for the same price.
I am looking forward to picking up one of the new folder knives though.

Right. I don’t even know if I want to use the coupon. Taking a poll to see everyone’s experience. I received my ddc lower two weeks ago, still waiting on an 11.5 complete upper and parts to complete the lower.

They were giving them away at shot show.
I got one. Didnt go to shot, but got one.
Been trying to figure out what to order, but the fact nothing is shipping doesnt look good.

A lot of the Vortex stuff wasn't the greatest when they were first getting off the ground, either. Geissele is solid and will work it out. I wouldn't buy a first run scope from just about anyone, but in a few years, they should be a great option.
That said, I'll still stick with Vortex for the 40% discount.
Machining is in par with my LMT lower. It’s not perfect on the beaver tail, but it’s serviceable. Engraving is uniform and the same depth. I don’t have the lower parts kit yet, so I cannot confirm it’s within spec. Nothing stands out of the ordinary to me though.
Color is consistent on the lower. Since I don’t have any of the other parts, I can’t comment on whether it’s consistent from piece to piece. It wouldn’t bother me if they are all different shades though.
