That's not really that much unless you're doing a budget build. At that point, I'll still pay a little extra for a quality receiver. Aero Precision is my favorite for a cheaper build.

Yes.
Consistency. Customer service. Fit and finish. Habit. Whether all that's worth the extra money is subjective. To me, it is. To others, maybe not.
Nothing wrong with the less expensive alternatives, and I have several. The rifle I carry around my property most of the time was built on a matched Aero Precision set.

I have several lowers that I’ve got sitting in my safe. Probably around $50-$100 each.
Got divorced so my funds ran low for awhile. Finally back on my feet and can start back but I think I’m going to do a .300 or .308 first before anymore 5.56.

Use a toothpick to spread it in the grooves. Take your time. It doesn't take alot of paint. Use rubbing alcohol to take off any excess after the paint dries. Don't press the cotton swabs hard into the groves. Just lightly. It will come off. Just make sure to take your time.
I just did a PSA snek pistol as well. I used finger nail polish. Just paint it over everything and wipe it off lightly with some nail polish remover. Leaves behind the nail polish in the grooves. Trick I learned from military guys marking 0. Easy to remove, lasts pretty good, and very easy to remark if you feel like it.
