Looking good. Did you get the kak shockwave buffer tube or is that a standard pistol buffer? I went with a Vltor pistol tube so I can use my a5 system...its just temp till I form 1 it.

I have a Vortex Sparc 2. They are $200. I was looking at an Aimpoint T-2 but then I ran across this review Sparc 2 review
So I saved my money and got the Sparc. Last weekend I shot 5-6" groups at 200 yards with no magnification and with cheap Walmart ammo. If I was going to Iraq I'd go aimpoint but for everything we will use it for here no reason to spend that much IMHO.

I've only used the KAK extensions with Blades ($20). However, if you are going to use a regular pistol extension I would consider replacing the screw that comes with the Blade with a soft tip set screw. The dimples on the KAK tube allow the cone set screw that comes with the blade a place to seat and hold the Blade in place. I would imagine using the cone set screw on a smooth tube would beat up the tube during use. You would probably even have to get it to bite in a little to make sure the Blade doesn't rotate or move up and down.
I measured the threads at 18 and the diameter appears to be 5/16, using the calipers, with an OAL of 1" (although the OAL doesn't have to be exact).
Here is a link to one on McMaster Carr, it's a pack of 10 though LINK

Thanks for that info Prop! I was going to go with the kak tube but my overall cost was a little lower just getting the vltor tube since I have the buffer spring and buffer already. Then I get to use my a5 system with the pistol tube. I had seen someone online do this setup...the vltor tube is thinner than the kak tube. So they made a few wraps with black ducktape so the blade fits on snug an that also gave them something for that setscrew tip to get into. I also thought about once that tip makes the mark on the tube, drilling it out a little to make a dimple. I just dont know how thick it is or that would be wise.
Its only temp till I do the form 1...but that may take a year at this point

I've got this weird itch to build a pistol AR with the Kak blade. I'm just worried about the laws and the difference between a pistol and an SBR. I think I know the laws but what about any LEO who happens to "catch" me with it. How can I be sure they know them as well?

That's part of it but that blade is awfully similar looking to a collapsible stock. Who's to say a game warden is "ignorant" of what it actually is?
Doesn't the Kak blade come with the letter from the ATF that says its legal for pistol ARs as long as it isn't shouldered?

The LEO can't interpret your AR pistol as a Rifle any easier than he could interpret your Glock as a rifle. He catches you with it in your shoulder and that's another story. No one has been prosecuted yet over it so I wouldn't worry. If it makes you feel better Shockwave ships the Blade with the determination letter, which you can keep in the grip of your pistol. And although it doesn't mean shite except for in regards to the exact Blade that was submitted for review, it could clear up any confusion with overzealous LEOs.
Yes

There is no better optic to top a weapon off with IMHO.
Elcan is a few steps up from AimPoint. Costs more but it's a better optic.

I don't see how they could prosecute that in court.

The problem would be the costs associated with defending yourself if they tried.

Thanks everyone for the help. Came out perfect...the rail is just right with the brake and when the can mounts! 11.5" barrel 5.79 lbs...is that good?

I'm not saying I would NEVER shoulder it, just saying it's turned into a grey area

Beautiful imo. What lower is that, and how much was the complete setup?

Thanks
Anderson lower when they were $49
PSA Parts kit
Midstate 10.5" upper
I had some of the other parts already. Probably have around $700 in it

Curious as to why.
