It's hard to tell from your pictures because it looks like in one it fits fine, but in the picture with just the brake it looks like the brake is sitting too close to the rail to work. The "teeth" we are referring to are at the rear of the brake, what the ring locks onto.

I have the flash hider version for my Specwar. With the can screwed onto the mount and locked in place, the rear most edge of the can sits .29" up from the shoulder after the threads including a crush washer.

If your barrel is 11.5 and the threads eat up .624 of that, then your brake should be sitting .044" under the rail. From the rear of my brake (where it meets the shoulder of the barrel) to the rear of my can is about .2" (not including crush washer). If yours in the same then you should have .16" clearance.

ETA: Since you already own the parts, best way to figure it out would be to put it together and see.

My plan is to get it to a gunsmith and let him assemble the upper and see for sure. Im just doing this now until I get there becasue im itching to know if its going to fit lol.

Also I dont want to install the rail too much and scratch it up if I dont have to. SLR said I could swap it if it doesn't fit, but not to ding it up. So if it was no way its going to fit I wouldn't bother the smith...but it looks like I will have to since its so close.

So if there is .16" clearance like you say...is that enough? As long as there is some sort of clearance when everything is locked down its GTG?

I thought I had read not to use those on muzzle devices that hold a can becasue they might not concentric to the bore...said to use a peal washer instead?

10-4

So I was not taking into account the thickness of the lip on the barrel when it goes into the receiver. So I think this is how it's going to line up and has plenty room I think.

I make camp with the people that believe this to be VooDoo. I don't like the shim/rocksett solution so I use the crush washer. No issues yet. For any story online you see about it you have to ask if the threads were concentric to begin with. Over 7" I don't see how a crush washer could throw it off enough without being noticeably deformed.

However, if I was installing for someone else I would do what the manufacturer recommends since it could possibly void a the warranty.

If it lays out like that I'll be really happy.

As for the washers I have no experance with them, only what I have read reciently. I'll look at silencerco and see if they have any preference and the smith that will assemble it. Just need a few more items then off to the smith.

Upper is finished. I'm waiting on a different grip to finish the lower. Also swapping out a different buttstock that is actually black like this one was supposed to be. The gray doesn't look right.

Thinking of buying a Larue or building a complete BCM.

I'm not sure about the rails on the Larue. Is it an issue I should worry about?

Should I just get a colt and add a floating rail?

I just need someone to talk through the issues to help me come to a decision.

Budget for gun only $1k - $2.5k.
Use it as an all purpose gun. Will probably go aimpoint red dot and also get a 1x4 optic to snap on.
Light, foregrip, pop up sights.

Just got my new upper installed. When I pull back the charging handle, it is very tight and the BCG does not go back forward.

When I try it without the rear pivot pin in place, it works fine but as soon as I on the back of the upper in place, I get the same result.

Any ideas what would cause this? I've read that it may be a bent buffer tube but not sure

Anything from high end manufacturers that is already completed?

I'd like the 16" mid length.

DDM4 V7? Not sure if I like the 15" hand guard. I'm leaning towards a 13".

That's what I was going to recommend. Wait for an SLW variant with a 14.5" barrel w/ pinned flash hider and a 13" rail

Meaning out of stock. Or that that variant isn't in production, but will likely be coming soon?

Basically the V11 SLW with mlok instead of key mod.
Do you think bcm would ever make mlok?

Any reason Geissele isn't on your Mlok handrail list?

Ended up handling the Larue, DD V11 slw, and DD V7 LW. Went with the V7.

Going to change the charging handle to a BCM. But I think I got the best combo and value for me.
