Aero Precision is notorious for that.

As far as my other question if I get a mid length vs carbine length gas system in a complete upper is there any advantage to either?

My first build was carbine length and I went with mid length on the 2nd build. The mid length gas system will allow the bullet to travel slightly faster which will technically increase accuracy at distance. I rarely shoot farther than 200 yards and haven't found any perceivable differences in trajectory. Overall, I would go with mid length just because you can and because it won't cost any more. If you ever decide to shoot at long distances it might be worth it.

Yes I manufacture those uppers in house. Parts come from industry OEMs or are machined on contract to exacting standards. All parts are USA made.

Are the barrels quality? Are they 1:7? It's a good price point for me.

I can't tell from the pictures is there any branding on the upper? On thing I dislike is gaudy branding.

I have swapped out the pistol grip for a Magpul since the pic was taken.

Yes, they are great shooters.

There is no branding on the uppers. Machine time cost money and I prefer to pass the savings on than have my uppers look like a NASCAR. Barrels are marked 5.56 NATO 1/7 and there is the typical Cerro Forge keyhole marking on the receiver, but that's it.

The core issues are original design/reliable cycling/dwell time/overgassing.
Keep in mind that with a 14.5" bbl, you're close to the original M4 design specs and correspond to a carbine length gas system, whereas that same distance is reflected between a mid-length gas system and a 16" barrel - if you mix and match - (carbine and 16" or mid-length and 14.5"), then you might encounter problems you have to manage - overgassing (port size is your remedy here) and cycling issues (right size your buffer) are the most common. Also, there is some subjective differences in felt recoil, depending on barrel length, gas system and buffer weight. Fixing one issue (recoil), might cause cycling issues with, particularly, light bullets and you will have to find the right balance for your gun.
Another phenomenon from all these mix and match choices is that, for all practical purposes, a lot of these home built guns are one of a kind, and each has a personality and ammo that it "likes" and "dislikes" - as well as other quirks.
Hope this helps.
ETA: And in case it isn't clear, almost all carbines are going to have overgassing compared to a rifle. When I use that term in this post, I mean "excessive" for a carbine.

I'm done talking I will order today. Should I go with a drop in CMC, Velocity, etc or just standard milspec for my trigger? I'm not going to be shooting matches or anything that I forsee but want a trigger that is decent.

Finished my AR-10. Need to get out and shoot it now.
It heavy as hell though. With the suppressor it is 52.5 inches.

Question on pistol ar.
Afg. It's debated a lot
So. My AR pistol let's say is 25 1/4 inches from end of barrel (without muzzle attachement) to the end of pistol tube. 3/4 inches short of the so called 26 inches needed required if you want to install an Afg
First off. Is this 26" statement a true set in stone law?
Second. If I slide my kak blade back 3/4 inces, this will give me total of 26 inches. But is this legit? It's no more permanent than a muzzle device. Even the pistol tube is no more permanent than a muzzle device that is not pinned

Good god that is a long rifle. You need a mirage cover for that suppressor.

It really is. 24" barrel.

I would never go over 20 inches on an AR-10 in .308.
Posted on 2/20/16 at 2:22 pm to ChatRabbit77
This will in no way, shape, or form a cqb rifle
Posted on 2/20/16 at 2:32 pm to bbvdd
Understood. Either way .308 has much higher diminishing returns past 18-20 inches.
Edit: Not trying to disrespect you or your gun...I just would personally not build a .308 on an AR platform past 20 inches as saving 4 inches would be more important to me than the extra fps gain. On a bench gun though, extra length would be more important to me.
