I want a S&W .300 whisper upper. I read you can shoot 300 blackout and whisper ammo with that upper.

You can shoot both with any upper, they are the same round. The "whisper" term was around before AAC termed it the "blackout" so thats what some companies market it as still (namely hornady).

What would you be using the magnifier behind? I would suggest at least a qd mount, if you don't like or want the fts mount. I had the PA magnifier mated with an eotech and used the PA fts mount. The magnifier was legit, but the mount had some wobble and didn't seem particularly well made. If you were going to use a magnifier for anything serious, I'd recommend a PA magnifier on a larue or another high end fts mount.

Got mine straight out of special weapons magazine.
This only applies to the smith and Wesson M&P 15 .300 whisper. Complete upper was $819 per panic prices
