We use elm at the camp for settin fires sometimes. Ashes like i have never seen.

We stick to oak at the camp. We had a bunch of sweet gum somebody cut up there but I found it was harder to get lit and didn't burn as hot.

I would use the sweet gum for camping wood but thats it.

We used a little bit of everything. Just mix with some good oak and it will burn fine. No matter what you burn get your chimmney cleaned

Nothing cooks better than cypress. My uncle had a cabinet shop and we would use the scraps for jambalya wood.

Cypress makes the vest kindling ever. I bust up pieces of driftwood and use it to light the stove at the camp. Its like filling the damn thing up with lighter pine.
